RORY MCILROY DETAILS SHOCK CAMEO IN NEWLY RELEASED DEVIL WEARS PRADA SEQUEL
Golf champion Rory McIlroy has opened up about his surprise high-fashion cameo alongside his wife in The Devil Wears Prada 2.
Rory McIlroy just opened up about his surprise appearance in The Devil Wears Prada 2, and honestly, the story is pretty great. Not only did he snag a cameo in the film, but his wife, Erica Stoll, also got one, and she was all in.
Fans were stunned to spot him in the new sequel, brushing shoulders with Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. You get about 10 or 15 seconds of Rory and Erica on screen, hanging out at a fancy Met Gala-inspired party. It’s brief, but it puts them alongside a wild lineup: Lady Gaga, Donatella Versace, Heidi Klum, Naomi Campbell, and Karl-Anthony Towns.
During an interview with Travis and Jason Kelce on the New Heights podcast, Rory explained he pretty much talked his way into the role. He admitted, “I am not a movie star. If you watch me act, you’ll know I’m definitely not a movie star. The whole Devil Wears Prada thing just happened.”
Here’s how it went down. After winning the Players' Championship last year, Rory got asked what he did the night before the big day. He said, “I had dinner, went back to my room, and watched The Devil Wears Prada.” Somehow, the sequel’s director, David Frankel, heard about it. Turns out, Frankel’s son plays golf and is trying to go pro, probably at Stanford.
So, Frankel’s team reached out, asking Rory if he’d be up for a cameo. Rory checked in with Erica: “What do you think?” She was all for it. Then Rory pushed that extra bit. “Think Erica could be in it, too?” The answer? “Sure, bring her along.” They spent a day filming in New York, and Rory called it an amazing experience. Still, he kept it real. The movie set grind is no joke, and he’s much happier sticking to golf.
Director David Frankel was pretty excited about Rory’s cameo. At the European premiere in London, he said, “Honestly, Rory McIlroy was the one I was most excited about; he was such a good sport and a surprisingly good actor.”
So, Rory got to test the waters in Hollywood, brought Erica in for the ride, and got a taste of that movie star life. Not his thing, but you know, it makes for one hell of a story.
MAX HOLLOWAY BREAKS SILENCE ON PARAMOUNT REGARDING CONOR MCGREGOR UFC 329 RUMORS
Relive the 13-year history between Holloway and McGregor as the Hawaiian star targets International Fight Week for ultimate revenge.
Max Holloway is hungry for payback against Conor McGregor as rumours swirl about a rematch.
McGregor hasn’t stepped inside the octagon since that quick loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021. His last win was way back in 2020 when he steamrolled Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in under a minute. He was supposed to fight Michael Chandler in 2024, but that fell through after he got injured.
Now, at 37, McGregor’s back in training and eyeing a return for UFC 329 on July 11, right as International Fight Week rolls around. Before that, he missed out on a shot at the White House card, so this July date is shaping up to be his next window.
Dana White has flip-flopped a bit on McGregor’s comeback, but now he sounds confident: “It’s looking good. Believe me, you know once we get a deal done with him, we will announce it.” And right now, Holloway looks like the top pick for the fight, 13 years after they first went at it.
Back then, McGregor beat Holloway by decision. Since then, Holloway’s had his own ups and downs; he lost the BMF belt to Charles Oliveira in March and hasn’t fought since. Still, he’s eager to get back, especially if it means a shot at Conor.
Talking to Paramount, Holloway laid it out: “We have history. We fought a long time ago. If someone’s got a win over me, I want that back. If he really is serious about returning, and it looks like he is, then this is an exciting fight. He looks hungry. He even did a boxing exhibition not too long ago, so it looks like he’s really coming back. I just want another shot. Any fight with Conor is huge, but with our past? It means even more. If I can knock a few names off my list, that’s great.”
For now, Holloway hasn’t heard anything official from the UFC about July. "Maybe we'll see what happens,” he said. “I’m seeing all the same talk you are. I haven’t heard anything yet, but July would work for me. They say you’re only as good as your last fight, and I want people to forget about that one as soon as possible.”
RAIDERS PLACE RECEIVER JUSTIN SHORTER ON IR; SIGN HOOSIERS STAR BRADY
With Justin Shorter on IR, discover how new signing Jonathan Brady fits into the Raiders' wide receiver youth movement for 2026.
The Raiders aren’t sitting still; rookie minicamp just started, and they're already shuffling the roster. Right now, some veteran players are basically on borrowed time as the team leans hard into getting younger.
Take Justin Shorter. He’s been in Vegas since 2024 but hasn’t caught a pass in an actual NFL game. Well, his spot just got even more shaky. The Raiders put him on the Reserve/Injured list, which, let’s be real, is never a good sign this early in the offseason. Usually, that sort of move means a buyout could be next so he can test free agency.
There’s a steady influx of young receivers competing for spots, so it’s tough to see Shorter making his way back, even if he heals up. To fill his spot, the team signed Jonathan Brady, a receiver out of Indiana.
Nobody’s really sure what kind of injury Shorter has. If it’s serious, maybe he sticks around and rehabs with the team. If not, we might see him try his luck somewhere else.
As for the Raiders’ wide receiver group, the youth movement is real. Wide receiver was a big need heading into the offseason, but they didn’t do much outside of signing Jalen Nailor and drafting Malik Benson in the sixth round.
Vincent Bonsignore from the California Post pointed out that the Raiders might still look to add more receivers if the current group doesn’t step up. He basically said that the early rounds of the draft went to bigger needs, and now guys like Bech and Thornton Jr. have a chance to prove the team doesn’t have to keep looking elsewhere. But don’t expect the Raiders to hesitate if things look shaky.
Now, about that passing game, it was rough last season. The Raiders finished in the bottom five. But with Klint Kubiak calling plays and Fernando Mendoza hopefully taking over for Geno Smith, things honestly should get better. If Kirk Cousins ends up starting, he’s probably an upgrade, too. And bringing in Tyler Linderbaum at centre will only help.
Chances are, the Raiders will use an early pick on a receiver in next year’s draft. Even though they have a rookie quarterback waiting in the wings, they didn’t spend big at receiver this offseason. Maybe that’s because they don’t expect him to start right away. Who knows. For now, the wide receiver group looks decent enough to get by.
