JANUARY 5 PREVIEW: CM PUNK VS BRON BREAKKER HEADLINES THE NETFLIX RAW PREMIERE
Kevin Nash calls CM Punk "slow" and "done," urging Bron Breakker to take the title on January 5. Get the full WWE legend reaction.
A WWE Hall of Famer thinks CM Punk isn't what he used to be.
On his Kliq This podcast, WWE legend Kevin Nash talked about a fan's idea: CM Punk should keep the World Heavyweight Championship against Bron Breakker on January 5 (the first-year show of WWE RAW on Netflix) and then lose to him at WrestleMania 42.
After seeing CM Punk in last week's RAW main event, Kevin Nash said CM Punk seems slower and maybe finished. He thinks Bron Breakker should win the title from Punk on January 5.
I watched Punk in the main event last Monday. First, if you're the WWE heavyweight champ and you wrestle in a t-shirt, that's not great! Second, his punches look super slow. He just looks slow. I think he's done. I think Bron should beat him.”
Kevin Nash had said before that it was too early for CM Punk to lose the title and that he should beat Bron Breakker. It seems his mind has changed after seeing last week's RAW.
Another WWE Legend Thinks CM Punk Needs Gunther as His Next Opponent
On Busted Open Radio, WWE and ECW legend Tommy Dreamer said why he thinks CM Punk needs Gunther as his next rival.
“Everyone in WWE should want to be world champion. Whether it’s Cody Rhodes or not, everyone in WWE should be aiming for that, Dreamer said. I'm talking about Monday Night Raw, so I'm talking about CM Punk. CM Punk needs that rival. He needs that guy.
I'm not saying anyone is wrong, but how I saw the whole Gunther/John Cena thing, I saw it in a lot of ways. He then explained why Gunther is a good fit, after everything that happened with John Cena.
“Here’s what I think: John Cena is done, and Gunther is the new thing. That’s why I thought it was right for John Cena to lose like that. Watching now, for two weeks in a row, that decision is making more sense because Gunther is getting more heat. If we're hinting at a CM Punk–Gunther showdown, that's a tough challenge for CM Punk.”
ENDING SOON: RANDY ORTON RETIREMENT TOUR RUMORS EXPLODE AFTER ERIC BISCHOFF’S LATEST PLEA
Eric Bischoff wants a Randy Orton retirement tour in 2026. After Cena's 2025 exit, see who else is hanging up the boots next year.
Randy Orton's a lock for the WWE Hall of Fame, and he needs a great goodbye when he finally calls it quits. That's what wrestling expert Eric Bischoff said on his podcast.
Remember when John Cena retired in 2025 after a year-long farewell tour? It had lots of surprises, old faces, and awesome matches. Still, it was a little sad seeing Cena, “Mr. Never Give Up,” lose to the next big thing. Cena and Orton even wrapped up their big feud at Backlash that May. Now that Cena’s done, other big stars might be thinking about hanging up their boots, too. AJ Styles already said he’s retiring in 2026.
Rey Mysterio might also do his last match next year. He’s talked about it recently. With all the drama between him and Dominik, who’s a big deal in Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, Rey could retire after one last match against his son. And then there’s Chris Jericho from AEW, who might come back to WWE to end his career. Word is WWE wants to give him a retirement storyline.
Also, John Cena may have hinted that Brock Lesnar might retire in 2026 at SummerSlam. He said that because the show's in Minneapolis, Minnesota, which is a big place for Lesnar. With so many wrestlers possibly retiring soon, Eric Bischoff said he's hoping for a great sendoff for Randy Orton, who he really likes.
Eric Bischoff Wants Randy Orton to Get a Great WWE Goodbye
On his podcast, 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff said he really wants WWE to do a Randy Orton retirement tour because he’s a real fan of the 14-time World Champion.
Bischoff really likes Orton and thinks he deserves the best possible ending to his career.
The retirement tour I really want to see is Randy Orton's. I think Randy's an amazing performer. "He's so good that I want him to get the goodbye he deserves," Eric Bischoff said.
WHY CHRIS JERICHO IS EXPECTED TO JUMP TO WWE ON THE NETFLIX ANNIVERSARY
Chris Jericho is rumoured to join WWE after his AEW deal ends Dec 31. Will he appear on the Jan 5 Netflix Raw anniversary?
Word is, WWE might snag Chris Jericho soon. Wrestling Intel's Alex McCarthy reported on Sunday, December 28, that Jericho is likely heading to WWE since his AEW contract ends on December 31.
McCarthy wrote, We hear Chris Jericho is going to sign with WWE when his AEW deal is up. Sources say his contract ends at midnight on December 31, and he's expected to sign right away.”
The report also mentioned Jericho might show up on the January 5 edition of Monday Night Raw, which is the first-year anniversary of the WWE thingy on Netflix. Some folks are wondering if he might also pop up at the Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia on January 31.
So, where does Jericho fit in WWE?
Jericho's return will be a big deal. Whether you love him or hate him, Jericho has been a major player for the last whatever years. He’s stayed current and keeps changing things up, for better or for worse. He’s a future Hall of Famer and should be inducted someday. Seriously, no one would complain if he were the main guy in the 2026 class, even if he’s still wrestling. He’s earned that spot.
Still, some might worry about WWE bringing back another older wrestler who could take up space in the men’s division. Fans are eager for younger wrestlers to get to the top. With guys like Carmelo Hayes, Bron Breakker, Je’Von Evans, and Oba Femi coming up, the number of guys over 40 is a valid point. The older guys should make room for the younger guys, but that’s not what's happening now.
Everyone wants to know where Jericho will land on the main roster. One idea that comes to mind is GUNTHER taking him out, since he’s becoming the new “Legend Killer,” retiring two big names in 2025. That could be a cool storyline that makes for big matches while keeping Jericho and GUNTHER away from the title scene.
The January 5 edition of Monday Night Raw is shaping up to be a big show. If Chris Jericho is there, then things will be extra hype. Either way, word is he’s heading back to WWE for what could be one of the last runs of his career.
