VERDICT DELAY: MANCHESTER CITY'S 115 CHARGES STILL UNDER REVIEW, REPORT CONFIRMS

A former advisor argues the panel, not the club or the league, is causing the surprising delay in the verdict for Manchester City's 115 financial rule breaches.

Verdict Delay: Manchester City's 115 Charges Still Under Review, Report Confirms
Why Is the 115 Premier League Charges Verdict Stalled

Manchester City's annual report touched on the 115 Premier League charges against them. The club is accused of breaking financial rules over nine years, from 2009 to 2018.

A hearing happened a year ago, yet City and the rest of English football are still waiting for the verdict. The commission hasn't made any public announcements.

Last month, Stefan Borson, a former financial advisor, said a decision was coming soon, maybe even before Christmas. He told talkSPORT, I think it still could come out before Christmas.

The city mentioned in their annual report that the commission is still looking into the matter.

The report stated, "The Club welcomes the review of this matter by an independent commission to impartially consider the irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position." As of the date of publishing these financial statements, the independent commission is still reviewing the matter.

Based on their evaluation of the Group's prospects and viability, the Directors confirm that they have a reasonable expectation that the Group will be able to continue in operation and meet its liabilities within 12 months following the approval of these financial statements.

So, the financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis.

Borson also thinks neither the city nor the Premier League is at fault for the long delay.

He noted that everyone, even those involved, expected a verdict by now. All the lawyers are surprised that there has been no decision at this stage.

Borson says the panel making the decision is the one holding things up. They are the people whom everybody waits for to deliver the decision. He added that there is little guidance given to them, and they weren't paid for their time from the moment the case ended.

INTERNATIONAL TUG-OF-WAR: SPAIN VS COLOMBIA FOR ARSENAL STAR CRISTHIAN MOSQUERA

Arsenal defender Cristhian Mosquera is at a crossroads: Spain (U21 Captain, Olympic Gold) or Colombia (clearer path to senior team). Yerry Mina has publicly urged him to commit to Colombia.

Mosquera Focused on Arsenal to Earn Senior Squad Spot

Arsenal's Cristhian Mosquera is off to a great start in the Premier League, and two countries are competing for him to play on their national team.

The 21-year-old came to Arsenal from Valencia this summer in what looks like a great deal for just £13m.

Because of injuries to other players, he was put into the team sooner than expected. He's played great and has already played 16 games.

The 6’3″ centre-back looks comfortable playing at the highest level, but it is still not clear which country he will represent in international matches.

Mosquera was born in Alicante and grew up in Spain. He played for Hercules before joining Valencia's youth academy.

He has played for Spain at different age levels and captained the Under-21 team.

The defender was also on the Spanish Olympic team that won gold in Paris in 2024.

Even though he hasn't played for the senior team yet, he has a Colombian passport because his parents are from Colombia.

He could still choose to play for Colombia, and a current Colombian player said that he would be welcomed.

Yerry Mina, who used to play for Everton and Barcelona and now plays for Cagliari, has spoken about the chance of Mosquera joining him on the Colombia team.

The 31-year-old said that if Mosquera decides to play for Colombia, he needs to show that he cares about the team.

Mina told AS Colombia, He’s a player with great potential and a rich cultural background. If he feels the calling, he’ll be welcome. The important thing is that he has commitment, humility, and love for the shirt.

People in Spain think highly of Mosquera, but there's a lot of competition on the senior team, and he seems to be keeping his options open.

He told AS in October, I’m focused on working hard, and opportunities will arise. I’m focused on my club, and I’m not worried or desperate about other opportunities. The day-to-day is what depends on me, and the rest will come.

Spain has some fantastic centre-backs, both now and in the future. It’s up to me to work hard and earn my place. As I said, what depends on me is to stay focused on my club, and doors will open.

PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS: ARSENAL'S WORST GAME SAVED BY DOUBLE STOPPAGE-TIME OWN-GOALS

Mikel Arteta admitted relief after Arsenal snatched a crucial 2-1 win over resilient Wolves via two late own goals, despite delivering their "worst game this season."

Substitutions Fail to Fire Until Two Late Own-Goals

Mikel Arteta can breathe a sigh of relief after Saturday. Arsenal barely squeaked by with a win against Wolves thanks to a late goal.

Arsenal's play was slow, and they struggled to get past Wolves' solid defense, which stayed back and held strong. Arteta seemed lost as he looked to the bench for solutions as the evening wore on.

It was probably Arsenal's worst game this season. They seemed unprepared. The team lacked speed, and Wolves easily cleared the ball.

Arteta didn't seem to fix anything. There were no changes after halftime, and the game remained slow. He needed to do something, but his subs only seemed to slow things down more.

Wolves haven't been great this season, but on Saturday, they played like a team, working together to stop Arsenal.

Arsenal tried their usual tactic: a corner. Bukayo Saka sent the ball into the box, and it went in unconventionally.

Saka's cross went over everyone, hit the inside of the post, bounced off Sam Johnstone's back, and went over the line.

It looked like Arsenal would pull out an ugly win, one that would keep them ahead of Manchester City and Aston Villa.

But Wolves had other plans. They played better as Arsenal fell back. After a great pass into the box, Wolves tied the game, stunning the Emirates Stadium.

Still, Arsenal didn't give up. Saka sent in another ball, which hit Yerson Mosquera and went into his own net.

It was a tough loss for Wolves but a huge relief for Arsenal, who now have a five-point lead at the top of the league again.
