Both Hazlewood and Sean Abbott, a reserve Test quick, departed the Sydney Cricket Ground for evaluations during the Sheffield Shield match between Victoria and New South Wales.

Hazlewood received the all-clear, but Abbott, who was included in Australia's 15-man team, was not allowed to play in the first Test match in Perth, which began on November 21.

According to a statement from Cricket Australia, "Hazlewood departed the field late in Victoria's innings at the SCG today feeling pain in his right hamstring."

"He had preventative scans, and they showed no signs of muscle strain. In preparation for the first Test in Perth, he will train as scheduled.

Sean Abbott also departed the field due to pain in his left hamstring. A moderate-grade hamstring damage was confirmed by scans.

"His return to play plan will be formulated over the coming weeks, and he will not be available for selection for the first Test match in Perth."

Losing Hazlewood would have been a severe blow to Australia, who had lost captain Pat Cummins due to injury for at least the first Test match.

Cummins will be replaced by Scott Boland in the assault, which also includes Mitchell Starc, a left-armer.

Brendan Doggett, who has not been capped, is the team's other pace option.

After suffering a back injury, Cummins told the media in Sydney that he was bowling at 90% and preparing to play in the second day-night Test match in Brisbane on December 4.

"Going from nothing to attempting to prepare for a Test match in four weeks is still quite extreme. He added, "But we are going to give it a decent shot."

Islam Makhachev has praised Sean Brady, a UFC welterweight contender, ahead of this weekend's UFC 322.

Sean Brady will look to solidify his position as a leading contender for a UFC welterweight title opportunity on Saturday night. The unbeaten Michael Morales, who has so far in his career impressed many with his ability to destroy everyone the UFC has put in front of him, will be his opponent. Naturally, Sean is currently enjoying some success of his own.

Brady truly made a name for himself in his most recent fight when he defeated and submitted former world champion Leon Edwards. It would be difficult to argue that he does not earn a chance to face the winner of the UFC 322 main event between Islam Makhachev and Jack Della Maddalena if he can deliver a performance like that here.

Islam Makhachev, one of the men who fought in that battle, recently praised Brady and implied that if the two ever met inside the Octagon, it would be a difficult battle.

Before UFC 322, Makhachev gave Brady high marks.

"Sean Brady appeals to me. On Adin Ross' live webcast, Makhachev remarked, "I like his manner." He is really tough. I am aware that it will be a difficult battle if we ever cross paths. Our wrestling styles are nearly identical. He exerts good pressure. He will defeat Morales if he is in good physical condition.

The Edmonton Oilers defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 5–4 on Monday thanks to two goals each from Connor McDavid and Jake Walman and a goal from Jack Roslovic 56 seconds into overtime.

The overtime winner was a backhand by Jet Greaves on a breakaway, which Roslovic, a Columbus native and former Blue Jacket, lifted.

The Oilers ended a three-game losing slide (0-2-1) with assists from Walman and Roslovic. 15 saves were made by Stuart Skinner.

Greaves made 19 saves for the Blue Jackets, who have dropped four straight (0-3-1) games, while Adam Fantilli and Boone Jenner each had a goal and an assist.

At 19:02, Walman tied the score at 4-4 with a pinched flutter shot over Greaves' right arm from low in the left circle.

At 13:39 of the third period, McDavid cut the score to 4-3. He slipped it past Greaves' right skate after cutting to the net after driving down the right side.

After receiving a pass from Damon Severson at the blue line, Ivan Provorov scored a snap shot that beat a screened Skinner on his glove side to give the Blue Jackets a 1-0 lead at 11:42 of the first period.

At 17:28, Walman tied it 1-1. The defenseman's soaring shot flew over Greaves and under the bar after Vasily Podkolzin rimmed the puck up the right wall to Walman at the point.

Columbus took a 2-1 lead at 1:39 of the second period when Monahan jumped on a rebound in front of him and slid a backhand under the left pad of the goalkeeper.

At 18:02, Jenner made it 3-1 by deflecting a feed from Dante Fabbro at the top of the crease.

When McDavid swung around Denton Mateychuk and hit a backhand from the inner side of the right circle 58 seconds into the third period, he brought Edmonton within one goal.

At 4:19, Fantilli pushed it to 4-2. Kirill Marchenko grabbed a loose puck, toe-dragged by two Oilers, and then backhanded the puck to Fantilli down low, where he snapped it past Skinner as the teams skated four on four.
