The "ALL THE SMOKE" podcast recently featured Cody Rhodes, the undisputed WWE Champion. He talked about how difficult it is to juggle his rigorous job as a top champion with being a father, particularly when there is a newborn at home.

Rhodes discussed how tough it is to achieve a real work-life balance. "There is no such thing as the balance," Rhodes recalled hearing someone say, "you are either doing one or you are doing the other."

Despite the workload, he described his efforts to be there for his family. "I have done everything I can to make it come together. Compared to arriving at 5 p.m. the following day, I do not mind wearing the pyjamas that get me home at three in the morning. I simply make an effort to attend my oldest daughter's breakfast table.

Rhodes went on to say that, in contrast to earlier times, WWE now makes it simpler for families to travel together. "Now you have guys with tour buses, and those are little houses so you can live your life."

Then he clarified that this speed is not sustainable. In particular, he wants to be there for his kids when they get older and start school.

He remarked, "There comes a time when there is only so much… you can only continue so long." "I believe I have a number where I want to go with this."

Rhodes likened his objective to that of his late father, Dusty Rhodes. In order to become a full-time parent, his father left active competition.

"I was fortunate that my father was not participating in the game. He was the best parent at every game since he was in it as a producer but not playing.

He went into further detail about his father's influence on him as a child. He was our football team's coach. By the time they reach that age, I hope to have stopped attending frequently.

Then Rhodes laid out his plans for the future. His career in the ring is nearing its finish rather than its start, he said.

The next contract I sign [will] likely be my last and end my days with WWE, Rhodes said. "What I would say is probably my last contract with WWE," Rhodes said. In closing, he thanked the organisation that has shaped his professional life.

"The house brought me back and placed me in this amazing situation; it is the house that constructed me."

Rhodes just finished a successful, if contentious, championship defence at "Saturday Night's Main Event" over the weekend. When the referee was down, he hit a DDT on the championship belt, defeating Drew McIntyre.

THE REAL REASON WWE REMOVED MICK FOLEY FROM SUPERCARD FOLLOWING DONALD TRUMP CONTROVERSY

Fallout begins as Mick Foley refuses a new WWE Legends deal. Find out how this impacts Foley's future in WWE 2K26 and beyond.

Mick Foley Gone

Looks like Mick Foley and WWE are already splitting up.

Earlier this week, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley said he's leaving the company when his Legends contract is up next year because of WWE's relationship with President Donald Trump. And it seems WWE is already taking steps to cut ties with Foley.

This week’s WarGames event in WWE Supercard was supposed to have a Mick Foley card as “Saint Mick.” This has been a Christmas thing for years in Supercard, and it would’ve been Foley’s fifth time in the game as “Saint Mick.”

But just hours after the event went live, it was pulled without warning. Later, game developer Catdaddy talked about why Foley was removed from the game’s Discord, saying:

“Hey everyone, it’s uncertain what will happen, but it seems we won’t be able to use Mick Foley, sadly. We really liked that card. We're working on another fun one to take its place.”

The replacement? An Austin Theory card showing off his new look from RAW. Thanks, I guess?

Because Foley was removed from WWE Supercard this week, it makes you wonder if he'll be in WWE 2K26. If Foley doesn't have a big part in the next game's story, he could easily be removed, like when WWE had 2K remove Mandy Rose in WWE 2K23 after she was let go by the company in December 2022.

What did Mick Foley say?

On Tuesday morning, Foley went to social media to say he is leaving WWE because of their association with Donald Trump, saying:

“LEAVING WWE. I’ve been worried about WWE’s closeness with Donald Trump for months now—especially with his administration's cruel treatment of immigrants (and anyone who “looks like an immigrant”). But reading the president’s incredibly cruel comments after Rob Reiner’s death is the last straw.

“I don't want to be with a company that supports someone so heartless as he pushes our country to tyranny. Last night, I told @WWE talent relations that I won’t be appearing for the company while this guy is still in office. Plus, I won’t be signing a new Legends deal when this one ends in June. I love WWE and will always like my time there, and I appreciate all the chances they gave me. But, like Popeye the sailor said, “I stand all I can stand, and I can’t stand more.”

PAT MCAFEE APOLOGIZES TO JOHN CENA: DID GUNTHER’S SLEEPER HOLD FORCE EARLY WWE RETIREMENT

Commentator: Sorry for John Cena’s Loss to Gunther

So, Pat McAfee feels bad because he didn't warn John Cena about Gunther's sleeper hold, which might have ended Cena's career in his last WWE match.

Cena's final match was against Gunther at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, and he lost after tapping out to Gunther’s really strong sleeper hold. McAfee later took responsibility for not warning Cena.

On his show, The Pat McAfee Show, the WWE commentator said sorry for not giving Cena a heads-up. He said that he went down the same way and should have texted John earlier: “I should have told him that this is what GUNTHER’s going to try to do. This happened to me.

“I should have told John: he’s going to try the sleeper hold. And when he wraps those big Austrian legs around you like a snake, it’s hard to get out.”

He felt like he missed a chance since he knew how dangerous Gunther’s hold is. “I should have given him a heads up, though, when he was here. I feel like it was a missed chance.”

He also states, “That was my text to Cena right after the finale: I’m sorry, I should have told you ahead what he was going to do.' I guess Cena watched a film, since he's always ready. But his loss made people upset.”

McAfee shared that he also texted NBA star Tyrese Haliburton during the match. “I texted him a few times because he was sitting right behind Michael Cole in the front row. He gave a couple of hashtags to himself in the group text, which I liked. He was there, and that’s not what he expected.

Fans might also remember that McAfee and Gunther don’t get along too well. After WrestleMania 41, when he lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Jey Uso, Gunther attacked both McAfee and Michael Cole on WWE RAW.
