In his limited time at the club, Luciano Spalletti, the new coach of Juventus, is confident he can turn things around and perhaps contend for the Serie A championship.

On Thursday, Spalletti took Igor Tudor's place; the former coach of Napoli and Italy signed an eight-month contract.

Tudor was let go on Monday after losing three in a row and going eight games without a victory since September 13. Wednesday's 3-1 victory over Udinese under temporary coach Massimo Brambilla put an end to the decline.

On Saturday, Spalletti's debut game as manager will take place in Serie A at Cremonese. Three days later, Juventus hosts Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League.

"Why would I have signed an eight-month deal if I did not think this squad has potential and possibilities, despite its challenging times?" In his first press conference as Juventus' coach, Spalletti stated this on Friday.

Therefore, I think I can work well with them. You proceed from there: from availability to drive to self-control, to accomplish significant outcomes, and I see an opportunity to make some corrections."

Since 2020, when it ended a nine-year winning streak, Juventus has not won Serie A.

The squad is now six points behind leaders Roma and Napoli in seventh place in the standings.

Juventus is in the elimination stages of the Champions League after drawing two games and losing one.

Spalletti stated, "I hope to be able to get back into the (Serie A) title competition." "Why not? Yesterday, we talked about it with the players. We have to strive for the top, and the title race is the top in this instance.

"There are still 29 games to play, which is a significant number of games left. Nine games have already been played. In my roughly thirty years in the field, I have saw it all. He laughed and continued, "I have been fortunate enough to follow this road here, and I do not see why I should settle just because I am elderly."

Most famously, the 66-year-old Spalletti led Napoli to the 2023 Serie A championship. when that, he had a bad stint with Italy and was let go in June when the Azzurri's World Cup qualifying campaign started poorly.

In addition, Spalletti has coached Inter Milan, Roma, Sampdoria, Venezia, Udinese, Ancona, Empoli, and Zenit St. Petersburg.

Since the dismissal of Massimiliano Allegri in May 2024, Spalletti has become Juventus' third full-time coach. He is the club's fifth coach during that time, including caretakers.

Tudor, who helped Juventus clinch a Champions League position with a fourth-place finish last season, took Thiago Motta's place when the club sacked him in March.

According to Italian media on Thursday, if Juventus made it to the Champions League, Spalletti's contract would automatically be extended for a further two years.

Damien Jacques Comolli, general manager of Juventus, clarified that the club has the option to prolong for an additional year if it so chooses, but that the renewal is not automatic.

Additionally, there is a moral agreement, and we talked with Luciano about how we see this as a possible long-term partnership that we would definitely want to have on the club side.

"And we both believed it was the appropriate approach, Luciano and I, and then we can get down and decide the way forward during the season."

JUVENTUS CONFIRM KENAN YILDIZ INJURY SETBACK AHEAD OF SPALLETTI’S MANAGERIAL DEBUT.

New Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti's debut is hampered as star attacker Kenan Yildiz joins defender Gleison Bremer on the injury list for the crucial Serie A clash against Cremonese.

When Juventus' new manager made his managerial debut this weekend against Cremonese, we already knew he would be without the club's greatest defence. We learned that Spalletti would also be without the Bianconeri's top attacking player when Juventus left for Cremona on Friday night.

Due to a knee injury that caused him to start on the bench against Lazio in what turned out to be Igor Tudor's final game as manager in Turin, Juventus star attacker Kenan Yildiz was left out of the travelling squad for Saturday night's match against Cremonese, which pits seventh place against eighth place. Yildiz played the entire game and scored from the penalty spot three days later in Juventus' victory over Udinese, which stopped their eight-game losing streak, even though he only participated in the second half at the Stadio Olimpico. Thus, it was hoped that Yildiz's small knee problem, which Tudor claimed was bothering him last week, would be resolved.

It turns out that it isn't, and as a result, Spalletti will not have him available for his debut game as manager of Juventus.

Due to an injury, Lloyd Kelly will also miss Saturday night's game. The same is true for the regular players who missed the match against Udinese in the middle of the week: Arek Milik, Carlo Pinsoglio, Juan Cabal, and Gleison Bremer.

The entire squad list for Juve’s encounter against Cremonese is as follows:

Luciano, welcome to Juventus. Gleison Bremer will not be in your first game. Yildiz will no longer be present in your first game. We wish you luck because, even if you only had one training session with your new team before travelling to Cremona for the weekend, those are two crucial players to not have at your disposal right now as you attempt to turn this around.

The fact that we do not know how Spalletti will line up against Cremonese on Saturday night is the added pleasure in all of this. With little training time after Tudor's dismissal, will he adopt Massimo Brambilla's strategy and stick with the three-man defence? Will he adopt the four-man backline he most frequently used at Napoli? Is it going to be a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3? We simply do not know!

However, we do know that Juventus is a worse team without Yildiz than they are when he plays. The last thing Spalletti needs is for both Bremer and Yildiz, his undisputed top two players on this team, to be sidelined for prolonged periods of time, so let us hope this knee problem does not persist.

ANDONI IRAOLA ADDRESSES PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE QUESTION WITH UNFLINCHING HONESTY PUBLICLY

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is refusing to call his 2nd-place team Premier League title contenders, despite an 8-game winning streak. He insists the focus is on points, not a Leicester-style miracle.

Claudio Ranieri's script has been followed by Andoni Iraola, who has stated that his second-place Bournemouth team is not a title contender this season. "Let us speak about goals when March and April arrive," the Basque coach added, as he leads an eight-game winning streak against Manchester City on Sunday.

The story of the Premier League season thus far is the ascent of the south coast team and the downfall of champions Liverpool.

The Cherries have improved since selling four of their back five players, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Dean Huijsen, Illia Zabarnyi, and Milos Kerkez, for £145 million, while the reigning champions spent over £400 million in the transfer market.

Antoine Semenyo has scored six Premier League goals this season, more than anyone else except Erling Haaland (11). Additionally, Bournemouth, which placed eighth the previous season, is playing with the incredible energy and flair of contenders. They might finish second last season with 76 points if they keep up their present pace of two points per game. Can they, however, pull off an even greater shock than the one in 2016?

After playing down his team's chances till the very end, Ranieri's Leicester won the Premier League at odds of 500-1.

However, Iraola responded, "No, I do not think we can," when asked on Halloween if his team, which can hold 11,307 people at Vitality Stadium, could surprise the big boys and win the championship this year.

Not even if they defeat Pep Guardiola's team in the first-ever match at the Etihad Stadium? "No," he responded. "A single outcome will not change our objective. Furthermore, we have no idea where we will end up.

"Last season, when we finished ninth with 56 points, was our best season ever at this club, and that is all I can think of. We must receive 57 points if we wish to demonstrate our superiority. I still think it is really challenging. We now play in the style of City and Villa.

"We will be in eleventh place if we lose two games. We have to do a lot to win a single game. And we can be ambitious as long as we comprehend this. When March and April come around, we can see if we can make it here, and then we can discuss our goals. However, I think it is too early for us right now.

"I want City to win every game," Iraola continued, who oddly lost none of his first nine Premier League games. Every game should be won by Liverpool. Every game, I want Arsenal to win. Those are not our competitors. Since we know that at the conclusion of the season, we will not be playing with those teams because they will be in other fights, and we will be in another fight, I do not want them to lose any points when they play other teams. Instead, I want them to win every game.

Iraoloa is now being fought for by Bournemouth. Even though they may be in second place, he is now the Premier League's best coach. Additionally, the Spaniard, who arrived from Rayo Vallecano in 2023 when his contract ended, will be in high demand both in the Premier League and at home when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

Iraoloa stated that a new contract was not discussed during the visit of billionaire US owner Bill Foley for last weekend's victory over Forest.

No fan had ever inquired about winning the title or about extending his contract, which is now a weekly issue at his news conferences, according to the Spaniard.

He grinned and said, "People are quite respectful." Indeed, far more than you! Some people will want me to stay here, while others will prefer that I find another coach. In football, this is a given. Even when we were not winning, I felt like I was being treated really nicely here. I hope that everyone continues to treat me with such kindness.
