ARSENAL’S TITLE HOPES STRENGTHENED THANKS TO EZE’S JAW-DROPPING STRIKE

Eberechi Eze's spectacular volley sealed a 1-0 win for Arsenal over Crystal Palace, extending their lead at the top. The £60m signing broke down a stubborn Palace defence with a moment of pure quality.

Arsenal's lead at the top of the early-season table grew to four points when Eberechi Eze scored his first Premier League goal. In August, Eze, who scored 34 goals in 147 Premier League games for Crystal Palace, moved from south to north London for £60 million.

And the reason Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was so eager to sign the England international was because of his ability to resolve difficult disputes like this one. With a quarter of the season remaining, they have only given up three goals. Arsenal is in good form, even when they are not playing at their best.

For a large portion of the game, they controlled the ball but lacked the speed and ferocity needed to break through Palace's well-organised 11-man counterattacking wall of a squad.

After more than 30 minutes of play, Leandro Trossard eventually put Arsenal's first goal attempt, demonstrating a mental and physical decline following Tuesday night's historic Champions League thumping of Atletico Madrid.

The Arsenal supporters, who had become considerably more fervent in recent seasons under Arteta, were also not very amenable to it. It did not help that the kickoff was a little early at 2 p.m.

When Eze scored a soaring kung-fu kick volley to finish up a set piece at 39 minutes, the match abruptly burst to life. The ball was headed back towards Eze, who finished with a soaring right-foot volley after dead-ball monster Declan Rice fizzed a curling right-foot ball to his favourite target player, Gabriel. Arsenal's eleventh set-piece goal of the season ended elegantly.

With the unexpected substitution of Christhian Mosquera for William Saliba, Arteta began the second half. Though not particularly compelling, he now had a foundation upon which to build.

As Arsenal resumed with a far greater level of enthusiasm, Gabriel headed against the Palace bar and Rice and Bukayo Saka both had scoring threats.

To cheers from every corner of the stadium, Palace manager Oliver Glasner responded by substituting former Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah for Yeremy Pino. After an hour, Palace faced the threat of being the third consecutive Premier League team to fail to make an attempt on goal against the most formidable defence in the league.

After 65 minutes, Saka, who had not exercised adequately since Tuesday's match against Madrid, was replaced by Gabriel Martinelli. One less England player for Thomas Tuchel, the country's manager, to monitor.

When Riccardo Calafiori was unable to continue, Mikel Merino and Ecuadorian international defender Piero Hincapie made their Premier League debuts, replacing Rice due to additional possible injury concerns.

When Eze made way for Myles Lewis-Skelly during the game's last phase, Palace supporters also gave him a standing ovation.

DISCIPLINARY BLOW: MADRID PLAYER SUSPENDED POST EL CLáSICO TUSSLE

Real Madrid's backup keeper Andriy Lunin has been handed a one-game suspension by the RFEF for his aggressive conduct on the bench during the heated final moments of El Clásico. Real Madrid's appeal was rejected.

Los Blancos' goalie Andriy Lunin has been suspended for one game by the RFEF Disciplinary Committee for his involvement in the sideline dramas during the El Clásico's final moments. Although the cameras did not catch it, referee Soto Grado did record that he had sent the Ukrainian off.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the RFEF responded as follows when asked why Lunin received a red card.

The reason for Lunin, Andrii's expulsion in the 90th minute was that he had to be restrained by his teammates after he walked aggressively from his bench to the blonde bench.

The disciplinary committee of the RFEF

"When considered significant, those whose behaviour violates sporting order will be suspended for four to ten games or fined between 602 and 3,006 euros."

Because of Lunin's actions, which constituted a minor violation of the sporting order, he was suspended for one game. The ruling had been challenged by Real Madrid. However, the RFEF stayed steadfast, defending the referee's ruling and the evidence in the match report and on film.

Now, the backup goalie will not play against Valencia this weekend, where he is probably going to be benched. Fran Gonzalez and Sunico, both from the youth team, might be called up as the matchday squad's third choice, with Sergio Mestre serving as a backup.

No Barcelona players or any other Real Madrid players were slapped with bans following the two flash moments in the closing stages of the game. When Vinicius Jr. and Lamie Yamal argued, even players who were not on the team were spotted shoving on the side of the field. The RFEF, however, determined that nothing that came to pass would justify further prohibitions.

According to Bukayo Saka, it is feasible for Arsenal and England to win both games this season. The season has started well for the Gunners under Mikel Arteta's leadership.

Arsenal leads the Premier League standings by four points at the moment and is starting to look like a title contender. Manchester City is only one point ahead of defending champions Liverpool, who are seven points behind.

Saka, however, is not only interested in winning at his club; he also hopes to succeed internationally. Manager Thomas Tuchel has stated that winning the trophy is his ambition for England, who have qualified for the World Cup in the USA next year.

Saka is optimistic about his club's and his nation's chances of winning. "Yeah, that is my prayer," he remarked in an interview with Sky Sports. It is possible, of course.
