SHOCK REVEALED: WHY GARY NEVILLE IS OFFICIALLY "DRAWING A LINE" THROUGH ASTON VILLA

Gary Neville rules Aston Villa out of the title race, predicting a two-horse battle between Arsenal and Man City.

SHOCK REVEALED: Why Gary Neville is officially "drawing a line" through Aston Villa
Gary Neville officially rules out Aston Villa

Gary Neville thinks the Premier League title is between two teams, counting Aston Villa out. Despite Unai Emery's team being only three points behind Arsenal after 17 games, Neville, who used to play for Manchester United, doesn't think they can win.

Emery's team has won seven straight Premier League games, including one against Arsenal. But Neville thinks Arsenal will win the title this time, even though they were top at Christmas.

Neville says Manchester City is Arsenal's biggest competition for the title. He thinks Pep Guardiola and Erling Haaland are very special and will make it hard for Arsenal.

He also said that if Declan Rice gets injured, it could really hurt Arsenal in the second half of the season. He also thinks it's important for Arsenal to keep playing well in April and May.

"I'm only looking at the top two teams," Neville said after Villa beat Manchester United. Aston Villa is doing well and deserves respect, but they won't win the league.

I'd be shocked if they did. Arsenal and Man City would have to have a lot of problems for Aston Villa to win.

The league is weird, except for the top two. I don't know what to make of the other teams.

Man City is obviously [very good]. They have Erling Haaland, an amazing player on the field, and Pep Guardiola, an amazing coach on the bench.

That's the biggest threat to Arsenal, besides injuries to Rice and a couple of other players. I'm not too worried about Arsenal winning some games by a small margin. It's going to happen this season.

They weren't great at Everton, but were they ever going to be amazing there? I think they're doing well.

It will be interesting to see how they do in March, April, and May.

I think they'll increase their lead in February and March and get a five- or six-point lead again. I think it's their year, even though the other teams are getting closer.

I might be wrong because I know City fans are feeling confident and think they're close and Arsenal will mess it up. But I don't think that will happen this time.

SHOCK: ALAN SHEARER OFFICIALLY SLAMS VAR FOR "RIDICULOUS" NEWCASTLE PENALTY SNUB VS CHELSEA

Alan Shearer and Eddie Howe blast VAR for denying Anthony Gordon a "stonewall" penalty in Newcastle's 2-2 Chelsea draw.

Alan Shearer wasn't happy that Newcastle didn't get a penalty in their 2-2 draw against Chelsea over the weekend.

The game at St. James' Park on Saturday was full of action. Nick Woltemade scored twice for Newcastle early on, putting them in a good spot.

Chelsea, with Enzo Maresca as their boss, fought back. Reece James scored a free kick soon after halftime, and then Joao Pedro tied the game up.

After that, neither side could get ahead, so they each ended up with a point. Still, Newcastle felt they should've had a penalty when Trevoh Chalobah seemed to take down Anthony Gordon in the box.

Replays showed Chalobah didn't touch the ball when Gordon went down after a shoulder-to-shoulder challenge. The ref, Andy Madley, didn't think it was a penalty, and VAR agreed, according to Chronicle Live.

But Newcastle legend Shearer saw it differently. On The Rest Is Football, he said the penalty decision was absolutely ridiculous, honestly.

Gary Lineker chimed in: It was a penalty; he just took him straight out. Shearer responded, Yeah, the Premier League even tweeted about it, saying he was shielding the ball. What a load of rubbish! It was as clear a foul as you could see. I can't believe those three pros, the ref, and the two VAR guys looked at that and thought it was alright.

Shearer wasn't the only one who thought so. Ally McCoist, who was commentating on the game, said he thought it was a stonewall penalty and couldn't believe it wasn't given.

Joe Cole added that Chalobah was too aggressive.

After the game, Eddie Howe said he also thought it was a stonewall penalty and was disappointed they didn't get it.

The Premier League Match Centre later explained why the penalty wasn't awarded, saying on X that VAR checked the play and decided Chalobah's contact on Gordon was side-to-side while he was shielding the ball.

Morgan Rogers calls Manchester United the biggest team

After Aston Villa's win on Sunday, Morgan Rogers said, There's no bigger team than Manchester United. He also said that Ruben Amorim's team is hard to play against. Rogers scored twice, making sure United left Villa Park with nothing.

Rogers scored a great goal late in the first half to put Villa ahead, but Matheus Cunha scored to tie the game before halftime. Still, Rogers made another great play in the second half, keeping Villa's title hopes going.

This loss means United is still seventh in the Premier League. They missed another chance to get into the top five. Rogers talked after the game and was asked about it.

It's huge. "Every game matters, and there's no bigger team than United," he told Sky Sports. They came here ready to play. They're a tough team, and we haven't done well against them lately. We knew we had to fix that, and we're glad we got the three points.

Villa's win puts them just one point behind Manchester City and three behind Arsenal. Rogers was asked if they could make the title race a three-way battle this season. He said, We'll let others talk about that. You all can talk about it; we're just focusing on each game.

United's next game is at home against Newcastle on Boxing Day. United has lost five of their last six games against Eddie Howe's team. If they want to win on Friday, they might have to do it without Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo.

Mainoo got hurt during training on Saturday, which kept him from playing at Villa Park. Fernandes seemed to hurt his hamstring in the loss against Villa.

I think Kobbie might be out [against Newcastle], and Bruno is out, so we will see. We are going to find ways to deal with it. No excuses. "We have to win the next game, and we will try our best," Amorim said when asked about the injured players at the press conference after the game.
