TRANSFER BATTLE: PEP GUARDIOLA WANTS YAN DIOMANDE BEFORE BARCELONA CAN AFFORD HIM

Manchester City is actively pursuing RB Leipzig's highly-rated winger Yan Diomande, hoping to beat financially constrained Barcelona to the €100 million-rated star.

Transfer Battle: Pep Guardiola Wants Yan Diomande Before Barcelona Can Afford Him
Man City Vying with Barça for RB Leipzig Star Diomande

Sources say Manchester City is looking at Yan Diomande and wants to get him before Barcelona does. Since joining RB Leipzig this past summer, the winger has drawn lots of attention. The German team values the Ivorian at around €100 million.

When RB Leipzig signed Yan Diomande, they took a chance on a rough talent. The attacker has done well with the German club, which is trying to bounce back from a poor season.

Diomande has seven goals and four assists in 16 games, catching the eyes of big teams like Barcelona. RB Leipzig sees this interest as a chance to make a lot of money off the winger.

Leipzig apparently wants at least €100 million because of the Ivorian winger's skill now and in the future. He's also been called up to the national team for the AFCON. Barcelona has been thinking about Diomande, but the €100 million price tag might be too high since they can't spend that much right now.

Manchester City is also interested in Diomande and seems willing to make a move even at the high price. It's not clear if they'll pay that much for the Bundesliga star, but they usually bargain down to a player's real worth.

Is Manchester City trying to sign a new winger?

Diomande is definitely on Manchester City's list. While they want to beat Barcelona to him, other teams like Liverpool are also interested. Pep Guardiola is considering the Leipzig star as one option for a new winger, especially if Savinho leaves in January.

Rodrygo Goes is also on Manchester City's radar. Guardiola might bring in a new winger when the January window opens. It's unclear what type of player he's looking for, but he might go for a young, developing talent like Diomande.

RIFT WORSENS: AFTER ARNE SLOT FEUD, WHY MO SALAH MISSED EGYPT'S AFCON WARM-UP

Egypt defeated Nigeria 2-1 in a friendly, but the story is Mo Salah's absence, compounding his current rift with Liverpool manager Arne Slot and future doubt.

Salah Puts Anfield Storm Aside to Chase Elusive Trophy.

Egypt edged out Nigeria 2-1 in their sole friendly match before the Africa Cup of Nations, though Mo Salah didn't play. Salah, who is actually 31 (not 33), has joined his national teammates to prepare for the 2027 AFCON in Morocco, where he'll lead Egypt.

Surprisingly, Liverpool's star player wasn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game, according to manager Hossam Hassan, even though Salah hasn't been a starter in Liverpool's past five games.

Arne Slot had sidelined the forward due to a dip in form, and things got tenser when Salah made some pretty strong statements in a post-game interview. After sitting on the bench during Liverpool's 3-3 tie with Leeds earlier in the month, the Egyptian star cast some doubt on his future with Anfield.

Salah said Liverpool had unfairly criticised him and suggested someone wanted him out. He added that his relationship with Slot was nonexistent.

After being left out of Liverpool's trip to face Inter Milan in the Champions League the previous week, there were serious talks before Saturday's game against Brighton. Salah was back in the team and played most of their 2-0 victory, despite starting on the bench again.

But the Egypt captain was absent when Egypt took on Nigeria. There were concerns about Salah's participation since he arrived in Egypt early Tuesday morning with Manchester City's Omar Marmoush.

Mahmoud Saber and Mostafa Mohamed scored for Egypt in Cairo. This win was their only warm-up before starting their AFCON campaign next Monday. Egypt is in a group with Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Angola.

Salah is looking forward to winning the trophy for the first time. He mentioned in 2022, Of course, I want to achieve something with my country's team.

It means the world to me. Winning this trophy would feel different from any other. We almost won it before (in 2017); we gave it our all, but luck wasn't on our side.

But that's in the past. Now we're here for another opportunity. We need to fight hard and give everything to win it, and I know the other players feel the same way.

The final match is scheduled for Rabat on January 18.

AFTER BOYCOTT TALK: NORTH AMERICA WORLD CUP TICKETS GET NEW $60 PRICE CAP

Following massive backlash, FIFA created a new 'Supporter Entry Tier' offering $60 tickets for all 104 World Cup matches, including the final.

FIFA Slashes Tickets from $4,185 to $60.

After a lot of complaints from fans around the globe, FIFA has cut the prices on some World Cup tickets for the teams’ biggest fans. Instead of paying $4,185, some will get to see the final for just $60.

FIFA announced on Tuesday that they’re making $60 tickets available for every game in North America. These tickets will go to the national teams playing, who will then decide how to give them to their loyal fans who’ve been to previous games, both at home and away.

It seems there will only be a few hundred of these $60 tickets for each game. FIFA is calling this new price range the “Supporter Entry Tier.”

FIFA didn’t say exactly why they changed their minds so drastically. They just said the lower prices are “made to support fans as they follow their teams during the tourney.”

The World Cup in North America will be the first with 48 teams, instead of 32. FIFA expects to make at least $10 billion from it. People were shocked and mad last week when they saw that FIFA’s ticket plans didn’t include any cheap tickets for fans of the teams playing.

The lowest prices were between $120 and $265 for group-stage games not involving the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

FIFA set these prices even though the host countries promised eight years ago, when they were trying to get the tournament, that they’d have hundreds of thousands of $21 tickets available.

Fans, especially in Europe, have been complaining for months about “dynamic pricing” and extra charges on FIFA’s resale site. These things are normal in the U.S. entertainment business, but not for soccer fans worldwide.

Last week, anger grew when it became clear that loyal fans wouldn’t get access to the cheapest tickets. Also, fans who wanted to reserve a ticket for every potential game their team could play wouldn’t get their money back until after the tournament.

FIFA also said on Tuesday that they’d waive their admin fees when refunds are given after the final on July 19.
