TALENT SPOTTING: PEP GUARDIOLA'S PRAISE FOR RODRYGO IGNITES MAN CITY TRANSFER TALK

Pep Guardiola called Rodrygo an "unbelievable player" after Man City's 2-1 win, fueling talk of a summer transfer, especially given the Brazilian's recent struggles at Madrid.

Talent Spotting: Pep Guardiola's Praise for Rodrygo Ignites Man City Transfer Talk
Guardiola Calls Rodrygo "Unbelievable Player"

After Manchester City’s 2-1 Champions League win at the Santiago Bernabéu on Wednesday, Pep Guardiola praised Real Madrid's Rodrygo Goes, showing his class on and off the field.

Nico O’Reilly and Erling Haaland scored to help the Premier League team secure a big away victory.

But people talked about Guardiola's quick, sincere chat with Rodrygo after the game.

Guardiola told reporters, as Fabrizio Romano reported, that he told the Brazilian player, You’re an unbelievable player.

Is Man City still looking at Rodrygo?

This event sparked talk about Man City’s interest in the Real Madrid player.

Guardiola's kind words, while sincere, started transfer rumours, especially since Rodrygo was likely to move to City during the summer of 2025.

Rodrygo, 24, has had a tough time under Xabi Alonso. The Brazilian, once a promising young attacker, has had trouble playing consistently and getting enough playing time, so he’s been in and out of Madrid’s starting lineup.

Before this game, Rodrygo hadn’t scored in 281 days. On Wednesday, he scored, giving him a boost even though Real lost.

Alonso has tried Rodrygo in different positions, like a central striker, but this has hurt his game.

The winger is said to be annoyed by his limited chances, and he knows the Premier League is interested.

Pep Guardiola liked Rodrygo’s game.

Rodrygo’s play reminded Guardiola of the Brazilian’s talent.

Even though Real Madrid has struggled, the City coach has always liked Rodrygo’s talent and ability to play many positions.

Real Madrid wants to keep Rodrygo, but his future is unclear.

With Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior as the starting wingers, it’s harder to get an attacking spot.

Rodrygo hopes his goal against City will revive his season and gain Alonso’s trust again.

ANTONIO RUDIGER PAIN: ANALYZING HOW ALONSO CAN FIELD A DEFENSE WITH ONLY RAUL ASENCIO

Real Madrid faces an unprecedented crisis with up to 11 players out, including a new doubt about Antonio Rudiger. Xabi Alonso may have only one senior centre-back fit for the Alaves clash.

Alonso Faces Only One Fit Defender

Real Madrid has another injury problem, this time with Antonio Rudiger. COPE says the German defender is feeling pain and might not play against Alaves.

This is bad timing for Xabi Alonso. His team is already small, and the thought of losing one of their best defenders is making people worry about how Madrid will even have a defence.

Right now, it looks like Los Blancos will play this game with a lot of players missing.

Big Trouble for Xabi Alonso

Alonso could be without 11 players. That number might get even bigger, depending on what happens.

First, Alvaro Carreras, Fran Garcia, and Endrick are suspended, so they definitely can't play.

The injury list is worse. Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy, and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all out.

Plus, Kylian Mbappe, Eduardo Camavinga, David Alaba, and Dean Huijsen are also questionable. They're hurt and might not be ready for the Alaves game.

If Huijsen can't play, Real Madrid will only have Raul Asencio and Antonio Rudiger as available defenders.

But now it seems like Rudiger himself is hurt, so Alonso might only have one healthy defender for the La Liga game.

Some Good News

The good news is that Huijsen is back in practice. This could help the defence.

But is the young Spaniard ready to play? Can he handle a tough game with so much pressure?

Things are getting risky for Real Madrid. With a busy schedule and important games coming up, Alonso's team is being tested to the limit.

REAL MADRID CRISIS: KARIM BENZEMA EXPOSES PLAYER CLASH: WHO'S TO BLAME FOR LOSSES

Real Madrid star Karim Benzema blames the team's struggles on top players like Mbappe and Bellingham not understanding their roles. Alonso is helpless.

Benzema Reveals Madrid's Internal Power Struggle

Real Madrid is having a rough time right now, after losing their two recent games against Celta Vigo and Manchester City. There's a lot of stress on coach Xabi Alonso, who might be out of a job soon, even though he's been in charge for less than a year.

The team hasn't been playing well lately, and the results show it. People are blaming Alonso, but Karim Benzema told L’Equipe that it's more about the players not working well together.

“The issue is that Mbappe, Vinicius, Bellingham, and Rodrygo aren’t clicking. Everyone needs to know their role on the field. Bellingham needs to realize he should be setting up plays, not just scoring. Mbappe is a scorer, not a midfielder. Vinicius should stick to the left wing, not play defense. If everyone understands what they should be doing, things will be fine. These are some of the best players worldwide, and they're all on the same team.

“It’s hard because everyone has their own style and wants to be the best, so it’s complicated. Everyone needs to realize they can help in their own way, but it’s for the team's sake.”

Benzema doesn't think Alonso can fix Real Madrid's issues. He thinks it's up to the players to turn things around.

“No, the coach can't do much. He picks the team and puts the best players out there. After that, it’s up to the players. If someone else is better, you have to accept it. The trouble is when players don't want to admit that someone else is scoring more goals. That's why you have problems when you have five or six great players together. Everyone brings something to the table, and in the end, the goalscorer tends to get more praise. But they still need the others! You can't do it all yourself.”
