UAE POWER ON SHOW: DECISIVE VICTORY OVER VICTORIA PEARLS ROCKS THE TOURNAMENT

UAE Delivers Painful Defeat To Victoria Pearls

The Uganda Victoria Pearls fell short against the UAE ladies' team, losing by a significant margin of 10 wickets.

After their initial victory against PNG, Uganda couldn't keep that energy going to get to the top of the table.

Uganda kept the same lineup for their fourth game. The UAE won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Janet Mbabazi and Esther Iloku started with a 25-run partnership in six overs. But things changed when Vaishnave Mahesh came in. She quickly took out Uganda's batters Immaculate Nakisuyi, Rita Musamali, and Stephanie Nampiina.

Uganda was struggling at 38/4, and then Janet Mbabazi's dismissal made it even worse at 38/5. Proscovia Alako, Kevin Awino, and Consy Aweko stayed in, but they couldn't handle the UAE's slow bowlers.

The last over was a maiden, which says it all about Uganda's batting that day.

In response, it only took the UAE 8.2 overs to get the runs they needed. Esha Oza led the way with 48 not out from 30 balls. The UAE won by 10 wickets without losing any, showing how well they played.

This loss shows the Victoria Pearls how much the 15th-ranked team is ahead of the 17th-ranked team. The PNG win feels like a long time ago now. This loss is a wake-up call, showing them they need to improve how they handle good bowling.

Their batting is not strong. They need to improve the lower order so they can help out if the top players don't perform well.

The Victoria Pearls will play Thailand in their fifth game, hoping to win again.

READY FOR COLD: SHE CRANES EYE CELTIC CUP GLORY

Uganda's She Cranes are better prepared for the UK cold as they target the Celtic Cup trophy, starting their campaign against Namibia.

She Cranes Prepared For Weather

How well Uganda’s She Cranes do at the Celtic Cup, which starts tomorrow in Glasgow, might depend on the weather in Scotland and the UK.

The team knows what winter is like, but their last trip to the UK in January was tough. It wasn't just the cold; several players got sick, which weakened key positions and hurt how they played.

But this time, team manager Alice Alweny thinks they’ve learned from that.

“We learned our lesson the last time we went to the UK. This time we are doing all we can to stay healthy and be ready to play,” Alweny said.

Like before, the team will get winter gear when they arrive in the UK, thanks to kit sponsors Gilbert. Players are also told to bring their own warm clothes to help them deal with the expected freezing weather this week. The plan is for the team to get to Scotland on Sunday, rest on Monday, and play a practice game before their first Celtic Cup match on Wednesday.

Having seen the good, bad, and ugly sides of winter in past competitions, the She Cranes now have more experience with what to do and not do when playing in cold weather.

Even with the challenges, Alweny is still sure her team can do well.

“The team is ready. They are going to Scotland to win a trophy. The girls look good and will be feeling positive,” she said.

Uganda’s first Celtic Cup game is against Namibia.

NAKIVUBO DOUBLE-HEADER DRAMA: CAN URA RESET? VIPERS FACE EXPRESS

Express vs Vipers Tops Nakivubo Double-Header

The StarTimes Uganda Premier League returns to Nakivubo Stadium this Wednesday evening with two games that could change the season's direction. URA will face Buhimba United at 5 PM, and then Express will play Vipers at 8 PM. Both games have pressure and stories to watch.

The first game is a fresh start for URA with their new fill-in coach, Edward Golola, who is taking over for Alex Isabirye. The four-time champions changed coaches after winning just one of seven games. They are currently 13th with eight points.

Golola aims to stabilise a team struggling to work together on offence, stay consistent in the midfield, and keep a strong defence. His first test is Buhimba, who is also trying to find their rhythm. URA views this game as a chance to reset, while Buhimba hopes to surprise a team getting used to a new coach. This game will show if Golola can restore the confidence and structure that URA needs.

The second game features Vipers against Express, a match that is usually close and exciting. URA starts fresh with their coach, while Vipers aims to continue their perfect record on a big UPL night at Nakivubo.

Vipers are coming off a 2–1 win against Maroons, keeping their streak alive. Coach Ivan Minnaert has four tough games ahead, and he’ll attempt to rotate players and maintain the intensity. Express is currently eighth with nine points and is still searching for consistency under Jimmy Kintu. Their goal will be to disrupt the Vipers’ game.

Last season, these two teams drew 2–2 in the same game, so Express has shown they can challenge Vipers. With new coaches, current form, and early-season standings all important, tonight’s doubleheader will be a major test for both teams.
