Ederson, who wanted to leave Manchester City before moving to Fenerbahce this summer, admitted he was unhappy there.

During his eight years at the Etihad Stadium, he won six Premier League titles and one Champions League trophy, among 18 team honours.

After Gianluigi Donnarumma took his place as City's top goalkeeper, Ederson decided to leave Pep Guardiola at the end of the summer transfer window and join Turkish club Fenerbahce.

However, if it were up to Ederson, he would have left the club much earlier. He cited his unhappiness with the Premier League team due to ongoing injuries.

Ederson said, "I had already tried to leave in a previous season, but it did not work out. I believe that had a minor impact on my performance that season. I was not at my best because I had five injuries."

He continued, "I was somewhat affected by that. My family and I had already decided that, if they were on board, we would talk to the club about leaving. This change was necessary for me. Being at a big, successful club is pointless if you are not happy."

He added, "It would still have had the same impact on me. Having new challenges in life and work is a good thing. With this change, I am enjoying football again and the great atmosphere at the games in Turkey. I am very happy with this new challenge and eager to win."

Ederson has struggled with injuries for the past two seasons; he missed 12 games last season after missing 111 days the previous season due to a variety of ailments.

His issues with Fenerbahce have persisted; in October, he missed two weeks due to an early muscular issue.

However, he remains hopeful as he resumes his international duties with Brazil, who qualified for the 2026 World Cup and will play Senegal in an international friendly on Saturday.

MAN CITY INSIDER REVEALS CLAUDIO ECHEVERRI’S DESIRE FOR JANUARY MOVE AWAY

Claudio Echeverri is frustrated by a lack of game time on loan at Bayer Leverkusen and wants a January return to River Plate. However, Manchester City prefer that he continue his development in Europe, making a move back unlikely.

A year after Manchester City finalised its acquisition of Claudio Echeverri from River Plate, he came in January. In the second half of the previous season, he participated in three games for the Premier League team.

In August, Manchester City allowed the attacking midfielder to go on loan to Bayer Leverkusen. He has only been allowed to play 240 minutes across eight games, so the move has not gone well.

He posted a photo of himself wearing a River Plate shirt on Instagram last month. This sparked rumours that he would rejoin the Argentine team.

Olé said on October 30 that there are no intentions for Manchester City to send him back to River Plate. Additionally, they stated that if the Citizens decide to shorten his time in Germany, they intend to loan him to another country.

The 19-year-old still wants to go back to his previous club in the winter market, though. According to Juan Cortese, a writer with TyC Sports, Soy del Millo has passed along his remarks.

The Manchester City contract of the Argentina U20 player expires in 2028. Cortese claims that the Citizens are in a good position to decide what will happen to Echeverri in the future.

Not merely because of his Instagram story, Claudio Echeverri plans to perform for River once more. "El Diablito," who is frustrated with his lack of playing time in Germany, has the idea of returning in January, but everything depends on City, which owns his contract, not on him," he stated.

It does not appear likely that City will decide to have him return to River anytime soon.

Pep Guardiola's team wants Echeverri to have experience in Europe, Soy del Millo continues. River Plate would not be able to sign him again in January as a result.

MANCHESTER CITY CONFIRM MATEO KOVACIC SURGERY

Man City's Mateo Kovacic faces a long-term layoff, requiring more Achilles surgery. The midfielder is not expected back until February or March 2026, a major blow to Pep Guardiola's midfield plans.

It has been revealed that one of Pep Guardiola's best midfielders will miss a significant amount of time this winter.

As the new season begins, Mateo Kovacic's fitness problems are still present. City may face yet another long absence for the Croatian international. Since last season ended, the 31-year-old has struggled to stay fully fit.

Pep Guardiola had intended to rely on Kovacic's skills and versatility during the demanding winter schedule, when having depth and a larger team is essential. This news will likely have a big impact on him.

Over the past year, Manchester City's midfield has changed a lot, finding a balance between new talent and experienced players. But Kovacic's absence will make the depth in this key area even thinner.

In June, Mateo Kovacic had surgery for an Achilles issue. However, a setback has led medical professionals to get involved again. His latest absence may extend into the second half of the 2025–2026 season.

Jack Gaughan from MailSport on X reports that Kovacic is expected to return in February or March 2026 after having another surgery on his Achilles.

This week, Croatia coach Zlatko Dalić talked to the national media and expressed hope that Kovačić would not miss the World Cup. His problems have not changed in the last four or five months.

We think he will attend the World Cup. I want him to return in March. It must be difficult. He is experiencing psychological effects from the injury and surgery.

The midfielder's absence may have an impact on Pep Guardiola's January transfer window plans, especially if the team decides to add players to stabilise the midfield rotation before the season's final third.

Zlatko Dalić's comments highlight the stress the injury has caused to one of Croatia's most experienced players from an international standpoint. Making sure Kovacic's recuperation is managed carefully will be crucial for his club and nation as the 2026 World Cup draws near.

Manchester City will take a careful approach to their recovery plans in the hopes that this most recent surgery will fix the problem. Pep Guardiola will look to players like a returning Rodri, Tijjani Reijnders, and possibly Rico Lewis to take on more responsibility in the No. 8 spots of the team, even though Kovacic's quality will be missed.
