CARLO ANCELOTTI IMPRESSED BY XABI ALONSO’S REAL MADRID INFLUENCE
Carlo Ancelotti defends Xabi Alonso from early criticism at Real Madrid, calling his start "fantastic." The Brazil coach says Alonso has the team performing well and that adapting to intense scrutiny is part of the job at the Bernabeu.

Carlo Ancelotti, the former manager of Real Madrid, shared his thoughts on Xabi Alonso's initial experiences as manager in the Spanish capital. After what appears to be a strong start, the Brazil coach believed that any criticism of Alonso was exaggerated.
With a half-fit squad and a Club World Cup to play in, Alonso arrived under trying circumstances, cutting short his preseason before the current campaign began. Speaking in an interview with Diario AS, Ancelotti agreed with the widespread belief that, when playing, Alonso had seemed like a good coach.
"Yes, Xabi.I also had him at Bayern. An excellent visionary football player. I had faith that he could succeed. And he is doing fantastically.
Ancelotti once said, "One thing I learnt at Madrid is..."
With two losses to Atletico Madrid and Liverpool, the former followed by a tie away to Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, Los Blancos have won 13 of their 16 games this season. There was not much more that could be expected of Alonso, according to Ancelotti.
"I am unable to provide him any guidance. Because I want to know how the Brazilians are doing, I watch every Real Madrid game, and I believe the team is performing admirably. They have won nearly all of their games, but football is not necessarily a game you can win. You must occasionally draw.
A draw here is the precursor to a crisis, which is something I discovered while playing for Real Madrid (laughs). Do not make jokes. You must adjust to it. As we already know, results are the best way to assess a coach, and thus far, the outcomes have been outstanding. They are in the top eight of the Champions League and at the top of the league. What more is there to ask of Xabi?
Last season, Alonso resolved a major problem for Real Madrid.
Ancelotti attributed Real Madrid's difficulties in his final season, in part, to injuries, since the team lost all four of its starting backs for significant portions of the year. According to the Italian, losing that strong base was crucial, and Ancelotti believed Alonso would succeed at the Bernabeu.
"Yes, of course. I see a powerful team that is particularly good at the back and on offence. Bellingham is back, and Mbappe is doing great. Xabi can succeed without any issues, in my opinion.
The fact that a large portion of the criticism directed at Alonso's management seems to be coming from the dressing room is perhaps his biggest problem to date, rather than the outcomes. Following Vinicius Junior's tirade, some stories have surfaced indicating that Valdebebas could use some improvement.

Gonzalo García, a forward for Real Madrid, has received recognition for his outstanding play in the RFEF Primera Federacion with Castilla past season.
At Monday night's Spanish Footballers' Association (AFE) gala in Madrid, the 21-year-old forward took home two awards.
Gonzalo did, in fact, receive two honours at the fourth edition of the awards ceremony: the Enrique Castro "Quini" Trophy as the league's top striker and the award for Best Player of Group 2 in the Primera Federacion.
With 25 goals, the Real Madrid academy product became the player with the most goals in a season since the Primera Federacion was established.
He also tied Mariano Diaz's record for the most goals scored by Real Madrid Castilla in a regular season in the twenty-first century with that amount.
Due to his current trip with the Spain U-21 national team, Gonzalo, who is now a member of the Real Madrid first team, was unable to attend the AFE Gala.
The striker did, however, manage to thank his teammates and the people who supported him in the letter.
"As you are aware, I am unable to attend the gala since I am with the under-21 national team. In the video he sent for the gala, Gonzalo remarked, "I wanted to thank everyone, the AFE (Spanish Footballers’ Association), and my teammates who voted for me."
It is an honour, and I want to thank the coaches and all of my teammates from Castilla last year. He continued, "Congratulations to all of the award winners.
Manager Xabi Alonso promoted Gonzalo to the Real Madrid first team after he made waves with his performances at the FIFA Club World Cup in the summer.
But this season, the young Spaniard has struggled to get minutes, which has raised questions about his future.
REAL MADRID STAR ENDRICK URGED TO CONSIDER MOVE FOR 2026 WORLD CUP
Carlo Ancelotti advises Real Madrid's Endrick to find the "best" solution amid a lack of playing time under Xabi Alonso. A January loan move is possible to boost the teenager's 2026 World Cup hopes with Brazil.w

Despite Endrick's lack of playing time under Xabi Alonso, former Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti, who managed the teenage attacker last season and is currently leading the Brazil national team, has urged him to "see what is best" for him. To increase his chances of reaching Brazil's 2026 World Cup squad, Endrick may go abroad on loan during the next winter transfer window, according to reports.
Endrick's nightmare with Real Madrid is still ongoing.
Endrick was one of the world's most promising young players when he came to Madrid in the summer of 2024. His reputation was further reinforced by goals on his La Liga and Champions League debuts. The 18-year-old soon won over the Madrid supporters with his courageous performances in an attack that included players like Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, and Rodrygo.
Endrick finished the season with seven goals in 37 appearances, or just 847 minutes, in what was a pretty terrible season for Madrid, as they failed to win either La Liga, the Champions League, or the Copa del Rey. Endrick has demonstrated enough of his abilities despite not getting much playing time. But he missed more than five months of play due to a hamstring injury he sustained at the close of the 2024–25 season.
He has not experienced any further fitness setbacks since returning, but Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has mainly ignored him and pushed him to the sidelines. He played the last 11 minutes of the game as a substitute in the 4-0 thumping of Valencia this month, marking his first appearance under the Spaniard.
However, he was not utilised as a substitute in Los Blancos' last two games, which they lost both of. They lost 1-0 to Liverpool at Anfield in the Champions League and then drew 0-0 away to Rayo Vallecano in La Liga over the weekend.
Endrick's World Cup aspirations are discussed with Ancelotti.
Since taking over Brazil in June, Ancelotti has not called up the young forward during any of the international breaks, despite managing Endrick at Madrid the previous season. Nonetheless, he claimed that Endrick could still earn a position in the group for next year's World Cup.
In an interview with PLACAR, Ancelotti stated, "Yes, I did speak with him at the beginning of this season." "He was hurt, but he is okay now that he is back, and he needs to discuss his options with his group. To find out what is best for him, speak with the club. Endrick is still quite young, and this World Cup will not be his last. In addition to playing in the 2026 World Cup because he is qualified for it, he may also play in the 2030, 2034, or even 2038 World Cups (laughs). I think it is critical that he resumes playing and demonstrates his abilities.
Ancelotti gave an explanation of why he did not have as many opportunities during his first season at the Santiago Bernabeu back in September. Endrick is comparable to Chelsea's Estevao [Willian]. He has a lot of talent. "I believe Estevao was fortunate," he said to ESPN. "The issue with young people travelling to Europe is that they play a significant role here but not so much there. During my year as Endrick's coach, I admired him both personally and professionally.
"And it is clear that he did not play to his full potential because Real Madrid had Vini and Rodrygo; competition is crucial on a large squad and might have a slight impact on a player's development."
Ancelotti teases the composition of Brazil's 2026 tournament squad.
Ancelotti seems to have suggested in interviews earlier this month that he had already identified many players who will undoubtedly travel to the Americas the following summer. "I think we will get closer to the final list the more time I spend with the guys. The Italian head coach stated, "I believe we are getting close to what may be the final roster for June, I think 17 to 18 players."
Although Endrick has made 14 appearances for Brazil and scored three goals, he last played for his country back in March. It will be difficult for Endrick to gain a spot in Brazil's squad if he keeps warming the bench at the Bernabeu because players like Vinicius Junior, Estevao, Antony, Igor Jesus, Raphinha, Matheus Cunha, Gabriel Martinelli, and Richarlison are performing just enough to deserve it.
In fact, a return to the national squad has been granted to Vitor Roque, who left Barcelona to join Palmeiras, Endrick's old team. A change of circumstances could improve Endrick and boost his odds of appearing in his first major event for the Selecao.
Endrick's January departure is gaining momentum.
Several teams have already expressed interest in obtaining Endrick on loan in the upcoming winter transfer window. In the forthcoming winter transfer window, Stuttgart, a Bundesliga team that transferred top striker Nick Woltemade to Newcastle in the summer, hopes to strengthen its assault by obtaining Endrick. Rumours have also surfaced about a potential move to the Premier League, specifically to either Aston Villa or Manchester United. The 19-year-old has also reportedly attracted the attention of French powerhouses Lyon and Marseille.
