INJURY BLOW: LAMINE YAMAL MISSES SPAIN DUTY, BARCELONA DENIES ANY CONTACT

Lamine Yamal withdraws from Spain's squad after Barcelona performed an undisclosed medical procedure. RFEF criticises Barca's lack of communication, reigniting club vs country tensions ahead of World Cup qualifiers.

After Yamal was cut from the squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Georgia and Turkey on November 15 and 18, the Spanish national team suffered a significant blow on Tuesday morning. The Barcelona winger is anticipated to miss seven to ten days of action after undergoing invasive radiofrequency therapy to treat his persistent pubalgia problems.

The medical procedure was "conducted without prior notification to the national team's medical staff," who only found out about it after receiving a report at 10:40 p.m. the night before, according to an official statement from the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

Yamal is upset about leaving the Spain squad.

Speaking on El Larguero, De la Fuente acknowledged that Yamal was deeply saddened by his release from the national camp. "Lamine is depressed. He is a popular player who is devoted to the national team," he stated. "He was excited to play these matches; he departed quite dejected. He has the Finalissima and the World Cup ingrained in his memory, and he wants to have a fantastic season with his team. He bears the brunt of the suffering. He wants to come every time. He departed in sorrow and pain. Those who claim differently are either dishonest or malicious.

"I had a conversation with him. We gave him some time to relax after receiving the report last night. I talked to him when we went to his room. I informed him he did not know anything about Barcelona and that it was the first time he had heard from the national team. He was deeply wounded and depressed. When he got there, he was all right. Until last night, we knew nothing.

It is possible to strengthen the bond between Barca and RFEF.

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick incited hostilities between the team and the Spanish national team, notably De la Fuente, during the September international break by accusing them of "failing to take care" of Yamal when he was injured while playing for Spain. Barca and the RFEF engaged in a heated back-and-forth after Flick's remarks set off a verbal spat between the parties. He was not even "interested" in what the German leader had to say, according to De la Fuente.

But he gave it some thought on Tuesday. He began by disclosing that Yamal had undergone a medical operation for which Barca had not provided a warning. "Just what was mentioned in the RFEF press release has occurred," he remarked. "Things are going well. I get along well with Barcelona's board of directors, president, and people in general. The news release accurately described what transpired.

"They ought to have told him what they intended to do, at the very least. They can then do anything they believe is suitable for their athlete. Inquire about the reason behind Barca's lack of communication. It is something unexpected, to put it mildly.

Given that pubalgia is a persistent groin ailment that can last for long periods of time and is resistant to rapid healing, Yamal's diagnosis poses a serious difficulty.

"We had not heard anything from them. When asked when he learned of the injury, De la Fuente stated, "The football player simply mentioned lower back pain, not pubalgia discomfort either."

There will, regrettably, be other injuries. Football is that. Playing football carries a considerable risk of injury. Injuries are occurring in a variety of circumstances. That is my concern.

Football pushes you in different directions, even if you have a plan to rotate players and provide them opportunities and respite. Theoretically, we attempt to properly manage their minutes, bearing in mind that we have two crucial matches. But always, not just today. In response to the RFEF's criticism, he stated that he was "missing Flick's empathy." Nothing is more untrue than this. Here, the individual, the football player, comes first. "I am astonished and surprised when that is stated," he admitted. "Players have had to return home after being here in certain instances. Since we put the football player first and collaborate with a top-notch youth academy, we do not take that chance with any of them.

"Lamine was fit to play those matches, so I would do the same with him. We evaluate his condition, the information he provides, and then we decide what to do.

"Those of us who have played football know that it is common to take painkillers like Voltaren. Ignorance and ignorance are the worst things there are. Also, bad faith. We share Barca's desire to defend its player.

"I would speak with a coworker in private if I had something to say. I may be mistaken; therefore, I do not do it in public. Since Flick coached the national team, I have missed his empathy. If not, I do not mind him at all.

De la Fuente made the decision to exercise caution around Yamal.

LUIS DE LA FUENTE RESPONDS TO CONTROVERSY SURROUNDING LAMINE YAMAL

Spain boss Luis de la Fuente criticises Barcelona's "not normal" radiofrequency treatment on Lamine Yamal, which caused his withdrawal. The RFEF was only informed after the procedure, creating a new club vs country dispute.

Regarding Lamine Yamal's exclusion from his squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Georgia and Turkiye, Spain manager Luis de la Fuente has offered his thoughts. La Roja has stated that they were first informed about the therapy given to Lamine Yamal late on Monday night, which is why the news was unexpected.

Lamine Yamal was relieved from international duty after Barcelona used "radiofrequency treatment" on his groin area to cure a sports hernia, according to a statement made by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) on Tuesday morning. In it, they conveyed their astonishment and disappointment at not learning about the treatment until late that evening, even though it had taken place on Monday morning.

Luis de la Fuente. "That is not very typical."

It has not taken long for de la Fuente to voice his opinions, and he would go on national radio quickly after the RFEF's formal declaration.

Naturally, I was taken aback. You are shocked when someone tells you about something you do not know anything about, including any specifics. As a prelude to an impending interview, de la Fuente informed RNE Deportes, "Especially with a medical concern."

"Some processes take place outside of the Federation. We must accept that this is the way things are. It is not particularly typical. No, I have never encountered such a circumstance. It is not really normal, in my opinion.

Barcelona is perplexed by Spain's response.

Although it has been implied that Lamine Yamal's camp was eager to receive the therapy when he did, it is undoubtedly the most recent development in an ongoing conflict between the two. Lamine Yamal is eager to avoid becoming involved, while Cadena SER claims that Barcelona does not comprehend the Federation's position. In order to prevent such media conflicts, he is eager for the two to speak. They claim that Barcelona has seized the opportunity to receive treatment at the best time—during the break in competition—and that "next they will want to be applying the treatment themselves."

After Apollo Global Management acquired a majority ownership in the Spanish squad, La Liga club Atletico Madrid was valued at approximately £2.2 billion.

Although President Enrique Cerezo and Chief Executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin will remain in their positions, the acquisition is the most recent attempt by private equity to enter the European football market.

It is estimated that the US fund will own about 70% of the club, with the remaining minority shareholders being a combination of Gil, Cerezo, the international investment organisation Quantum Pacific organisation, which was established by Israeli billionaire Idan Ofer, and investment management Ares Management. Reuters reports that the club is valued at approximately £2.2 billion.

"We are thrilled to support the team and honour its ethos and traditions, and to provide value in areas where we excel, such as growth of the [training complex] and upgrading the spectator experience," Apollo's Robert Givone said, describing the team as "one of Europe's great sporting institutions."

"The Club and the local economy may both benefit greatly from supporting the ambitious ideas for the sports city."

The Atletico Madrid deal is complete.

Numerous media outlets revealed in September that Apollo Global Management, a New York-based company, intended to introduce a £3.75 billion sport-focused investment vehicle.

The company reportedly lent £40 million at an interest rate of 10.25 per cent to football agent and prominent horse racing player Kia Joorabchian's Sports Invest Holdings, while also lending £80 million to Premier League football team Nottingham Forest.

Spanish football already has private equity thanks to a 2021 agreement signed by CVC Capital Partners that would give clubs more than $2 billion in exchange for a less than 10% share in the league's sponsorship and broadcasting division for the following 50 years.

One of La Liga's top stadiums, Atletico Madrid's Metropolitano, is supported by the recently launched airline Riyadh Air.

Gil Marin praised Apollo as a terrific ally who appreciates Atletico's and its supporters' identity, history, and customs. "However, the investment provides more resources and energy to support our further expansion and competitiveness."
