Following his collapse during a training session, a former Premier League attacker was taken to the hospital.
After five seasons at Chelsea, where he became a cult figure, the Brazilian left for what many saw as a fast payout at a lower league team.
During a gym session at the club, Oscar, who currently plays for Sao Paulo, reportedly passed out while riding an exercise bike. After paramedics transported him to Einstein Hospital Israelita, medical professionals discovered heart issues.
According to the club, the 34-year-old is currently in stable health but is still being watched as tests are conducted.
“Athlete Oscar presented an incident with cardiological changes during tests conducted on Tuesday morning, at SuperCT, as part of the preparation for the 2026 pre-season. The club's professionals and the medical team from Einstein Hospital Israelita, which was present at the site, promptly attended to the incident,” a Sao Paulo spokesperson stated.
After that, the player was brought to the hospital, where he is currently being monitored for further testing to confirm the diagnosis and is clinically stable.
"New information will be given as soon as there is an update from the medical staff, in agreement with Oscar, in accordance with standard protocol and respecting the player's privacy."
According to claims in Brazilian media, Oscar has already undergone a diagnostic catheterisation and an MRI. In order to concentrate on his recuperation, it has also been proposed that he could give up football completely.
Oscar and São Paulo have a contract that expires in 2027, but if his health keeps him from playing again, there is talk that it could be mutually terminated.
After joining Chelsea in 2012, the attacking midfielder played in more than 200 games and scored 38 goals in five seasons. Before his £60 million move to Shanghai SIPG (now Shanghai Port) in 2017, when he earned £400,000 a week, he assisted the team in winning two Premier League crowns, the League Cup, and the Europa League.
Before he signed for Sao Paulo in 2024, he lived in China for almost eight years.
ERIK TEN HAG DECLINES TOP EUROPEAN JOB FOLLOWING LEVERKUSEN SACKING
Erik ten Hag has turned down the chance to return to Ajax as manager, according to Dutch reports. The former boss, sacked by Leverkusen in August, felt there was "insufficient basis" for a successful collaboration.

After managing just three games, the former Manchester United manager was dismissed from his responsibilities with the Bundesliga team in August.
However, recent reports from the Netherlands claim that he has declined the chance to take over at his old team, Ajax.
Since John Heitinga was fired last week due to the Dutch team's poor Champions League performance, they have been without a head coach. Fred Grim has taken over as interim manager.
According to recent rumours in the Dutch publication AD, Ten Hag has withdrawn from negotiations after having multiple conversations about the vacancy.
Before departing to join Manchester United, Ten Hag led Ajax to three Eredivisie titles during his four years as manager from 2018 to 2022.
However, because there is "insufficient basis for a successful collaboration in the short term," he has not been persuaded to rejoin the Amsterdam team.
This comes after Alex Kroes, the club's technical director, resigned along with Heitinga. In September, technical commissioner Danny Blind also left.
After his disappointing tenure at Leverkusen, Ten Hag is reportedly hesitant to accept a new managerial role.
The Dutchman said in a statement at the time that the board's decision was unexpected, especially considering the departure of important players Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong.
He wrote: "I was completely taken aback by Bayer Leverkusen's management's decision this morning to place me on leave.
It is unheard of to fire a coach after just two league games.
Numerous important players who contributed to previous victories left the team this summer. The process of creating a new, cohesive team is meticulous and calls for patience as well as trust.

The 40-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo has announced his intention to retire from international football, meaning that his last games in a Portuguese uniform will take place in 2026.
The frontman of Al Nassr told CNN that his appearance at the FIFA World Cup in North America in 2026 will mark the conclusion of his international career. It will be Ronaldo's final chance to win a global championship, and he will captain his country.
Portugal's trip to Dublin, Ireland, on Thursday might confirm their participation in the competition. With one game remaining, a win would secure a trip to the finals, while a draw would assure a spot in the play-offs.
Ronaldo will continue to shatter records as soon as he steps onto the field, even though his 2026 World Cup appearance will be his final.
In 2026, Cristiano Ronaldo might set a new record for the most appearances at various World Cup competitions.
Ronaldo will shatter the record for the most appearances at various tournaments if he and Portugal qualify for the World Cup and Ronaldo plays in the campaign.
Ronaldo made his World Cup debut in 2006, becoming the youngest Portuguese striker at the tournament aged 21. Ronaldo led his Portugal team out in 2010, and four years later, he would be the captain of the South African national team.
He would make his third World Cup appearance in 2014, becoming the first player from Portugal to play and score in three straight competitions.
Ronaldo's Portugal team entered the competition as the European champions in 2018, but they were unable to capitalise on their Russian continental triumph.
Ronaldo tied the record for the most appearances in individual tournaments while playing for Portugal in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Lothar Matthäus, Andrés Guardado, Antonio Carbajal, Rafael Marquez, and competitor Lionel Messi—who also played in a fifth World Cup in 2022—are among the other players who have achieved this achievement.
Ronaldo made history in 2022 by becoming the first player to score in five tournaments. But by simply showing up at the 2026 World Cup, he will become the first player to participate in six different competitions.
Lionel Messi might smash the record, just like Ronaldo did. The Argentine's attendance at the 2026 finals has not yet been confirmed, though. In the US, Canada, and Mexico, the defending world champions have already reaffirmed their attendance at the competition.
