Chelsea and Bayern Munich are targeting AC Milan's Mike Maignan. The world-class goalkeeper is stalling on a new contract, potentially allowing a free transfer in 2026 as both clubs seek a long-term #1.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are reportedly planning offers to recruit AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
As the French international nears the end of his contract at the San Siro, both European powerhouses are reportedly keeping a careful eye on his condition.
Many people consider Maignan, who is currently 30 years old, to be among the top goalkeepers in football.
He is a vital member of the team and the nation because of his poise, quick thinking, and leadership in between positions.
The Chelsea target refuses to sign a new contract with AC Milan.
But Milan will have to fight hard to maintain their number one spot. Negotiations to extend the Frenchman's contract, which is set to expire in June 2026, have apparently halted.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan's sporting direction and pay demands have proven to be major roadblocks in Maignan's unwillingness to commit to a new contract.
Bayern Munich and Chelsea are also patiently awaiting the outcome.
Maignan will have the option to negotiate a pre-contract agreement as early as January 2026 if he declines to extend, opening the door for a potentially historic free move the following summer.
Chelsea's pursuit of Maignan coincides with ongoing concern surrounding the team's goalkeeping staff.
Due to Robert Sanchez's inconsistent play, manager Enzo Maresca is looking for a more seasoned and dominant goalkeeper.
Maignan is the ideal choice to provide stability to a team that is still changing because of his demonstrated success in the Champions League and Serie A.
Bayern Munich are standing in Chelsea's way of signing Maignan.
Meanwhile, Maignan is seen by Bayern Munich as the perfect replacement for Manuel Neuer, whose illustrious tenure in Bavaria is coming to an end.
According to sources, Bayern's scouts have written excellent evaluations of Maignan, noting that he possesses the same distribution, communication, and defensive line organisation skills as Neuer did in his prime.
Maignan's profile on the global scene has also increased as a result of his exploits for France under Didier Deschamps.
It is unlikely that AC Milan will be able to retain him. Due to the club's financial situation, it is challenging to match the salaries offered by Europe's top teams; Chelsea and Bayern are both willing to provide contracts that are significantly more profitable than Milan's.
CHELSEA TOLD EMANUEL EMEGHA CAN TRANSFORM SQUAD AND DELIVER GOALS
Chelsea-bound Emanuel Emegha earns his first Netherlands call-up after scoring 6 goals for Strasbourg. The 22-year-old striker, tipped to be a "huge hit," is set to join the Blues in 2026 to solve their striker issues.

Following his first senior call-up to the Netherlands, future Chelsea star Emanuel Emegha has been predicted to be a huge hit.
To finally solve Stamford Bridge's obvious striker problem, the 22-year-old will join the Blues from sister club Strasbourg in 2026.
Joao Pedro is better suited for a No. 10 position, while Enzo Maresca is still looking for a frontman to be the centre of his assault.
Before scoring in back-to-back Premier League games in November, the Brazilian had gone ten games without scoring.
Liam Delap, his main rival, was sent off against Wolves last month and has not scored since returning from a two-month injury.
Despite having a hamstring problem to begin the season, Emegha has continued to play well under Liam Rosenior.
In his first eight games of the season, the Dutchman has scored six goals and provided two assists for Strasbourg, including a double in Sunday's thrilling 2-0 victory over Lille.
Ronald Koeman, the manager of the Netherlands, has therefore called up Emegha for World Cup qualifying matches against Poland and Lithuania.
Andy Brassell, a European football specialist, told talkSPORT.com that Emegha's situation is coming together at the ideal moment.
"Emegha will be the starting forward for the Netherlands at Euro 2028 if he makes it to the Premier League in 2026 and performs well," he stated.
Of course, he is still young. He has a respectable amount of French football experience, nevertheless, considering his age.
"I believe he is a talented line leader. He runs well. He is powerful. He finishes things well.
Emegha was called the "next Zlatan."
Maresca recently made headlines when he harshly criticised Delap for receiving a "stupid" and "embarrassing" red card upon his return.
Nevertheless, Emegha has kept up his reputation as the "next Zlatan" by scoring goals despite taunts from his own supporters.
Brassell went on: "Since he decided to transfer to Chelsea, he has received a lot of criticism that some of his friends and family feel is excessively harsh.
Since Chelsea has first dibs because it is Strasbourg and he is a very good player, everyone knew when he started playing well for them that he would eventually finish up there.
However, I believe that some Strasbourg supporters are offended because he was named captain and then, a few weeks later, was seen standing at Stamford Bridge wearing a Chelsea shirt.
"I completely understand. I get it, but he was clearly a little offended when some Strasbourg ultras displayed a banner claiming he was merely a pawn of BlueCo [after a 1-0 league victory against Le Havre].
"He made a big show of it and everything else after he scored at Paris FC, taking off his jersey and pointing to the back.
Since then, he has been excluded from the team, which has led to some marginalisation. Joaquin Panichelli entered the game and performed admirably.
"The Argentine centre-forward has become the leading scorer in Ligue 1. He gave a great performance.
"Liam Rosenior remarked that Panichelli's two goals at PSG were the best centre-forward performance he had ever witnessed in person.
It was fascinating to note that he had been such a strong supporter of Emegha; it seemed as though they had somewhat moved on from him.
For Chelsea, Emegha will be a huge hit.
"However, he rejoins the club, dons the captain's armband once more, and scores twice as they defeated Lille over the weekend."
"Olivier Giroud, who has not scored in the league since August, scored the second goal after a terrible back ball.
Actually, I believe that highlights not only Emegha's qualities but also his attitude and self-belief.
That gives me the impression that he will succeed greatly in the Premier League. Because he has the guts to stand up and say, "Yeah, yeah, this is what I am made of," whether he is being scrutinised or marginalised.
According to Sam Matterface, Estevao of Chelsea will one day win the Ballon d'Or!
And he consistently demonstrates it, which is really amazing. He has a lot more to say this season as a result.
"Keep in mind that I do not think it really matters if he and Panichelli play together because I believe Strasbourg will advance far in the Conference League.
"There will be a lot of games for them to play. However, I do think he would be a huge success for Chelsea.
CHELSEA’S MALO GUSTO PRAISES ALEJANDRO GARNACHO’S IMPACT AND FEARLESS ATTACKING ENERGY
Malo Gusto praised Chelsea teammate Alejandro Garnacho after the winger's assist helped him score his first senior goal in a 3-0 win over Wolves. Gusto hailed the Argentine's "quality" and work rate.

In a Chelsea shirt, Alejandro Garnacho set up Malo Gusto for the first goal, and our French full-back was ready to acknowledge his Blues teammate's help.
When Gusto scored his eagerly awaited first Chelsea goal, it was an emotional occasion at Stamford Bridge. But it was as important as it ought to be.
Wolverhampton Wanderers' tenacious resistance was broken by Gusto's close-range header, which let the game run wild in the second half. At halftime, we appeared to be headed for a potentially disappointing evening, but we ended up winning 3-0 and earning three more crucial Premier League points.
After the France international scored his first goal in his senior career thanks to a cross from Garnacho, Gusto was undoubtedly responsible for creating that breakthrough.
When questioned about the Argentine's impact following the game, Malo said, "He has a lot of quality as a winger."
He can get every member of our squad into their box, which is part of our strategy. We ask the wingers to do stuff like this, dribble, of course, and create opportunities.
He did just that; his crosses greatly aided us. Therefore, I am thrilled to be playing with him.
Garnacho put on what was perhaps his best performance in a Chelsea shirt to date, staying energetic and posing a threat to the Wolves' defence the entire time. In addition, he assisted Pedro Neto in scoring our third goal of the night against his old team.
Gusto clarified, "He is a top guy, like any player here." He also puts in a lot of labour. I am glad to play with this kind of player because he is a nice guy, highly competitive, and helpful.
Naturally, you must act when others are waiting for you to demonstrate your qualities. You must give it your all on the field if you wish to perform at your highest level. Everyone at Chelsea strives to do that. You must demonstrate several qualities both on and off the field to play for Chelsea.
"But because there is still a long way to go and we must keep striving, it is excellent to have him on the team and to have him continue to improve to help us reach our targets at the conclusion of the season."
Speaking about his own play, Gusto gave an explanation of why he believes that playing a variety of positions as a young player before settling on right-back at Lyon has improved him as a player.
In addition to alternating between a traditional full-back overlapping down the flank or coming inside to bolster numbers in the centre of the pitch in possession, Enzo Maresca has occasionally used the French international as a winger or a midfielder, demonstrating his versatility with the Blues.
"When I was younger, I played everywhere," the 22-year-old said. That, in my opinion, greatly aided my comprehension of each position and the game. Every time I play, I try to give it my all since I believe I possess this quality.
I strive to give it my all in any position, whether it is as a midfielder, winger, or right-back. I believe that good players must comprehend everything, regardless of the position they play.
