ENZO FERNáNDEZ INJURY RAISES CHELSEA FEARS AHEAD OF CRUCIAL FIXTURES
Chelsea's Enzo Fernández will miss Argentina's final 2025 matches to address a knee injury. The midfielder has been playing through "bone edema" for four months, seeking recovery before the season's crucial period.

Enzo Fernández disclosed that he had spent the last four months battling a knee problem. He will therefore miss Argentina's final two 2025 matches.
The midfielder had one of his greatest games of the season as Chelsea defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0. But following the game, he said that his persistent knee problem was the reason he had skipped La Albiceleste's November training.
"I have been talking to the national team medical personnel about my knee problem, which has been bothering me for four months," Fernández told ESPN. We decided it would be best for me to take these two weeks off since the season's pivotal period was drawing near.
"I have endured a lot of hardship. In order to resume training and playing alongside my teammates, I will strive to fully recuperate over the course of the next two or three weeks.
The injury has "grown worse" in recent weeks, according to Fernández.
He revealed that he has had severe discomfort for the past month as a result of "bone oedema."
"Because I have been playing so many games, I have been battling with a bone oedema that has gotten worse in recent weeks," Fernández stated.
"It was beneficial that we discussed it with the medical staff in Argentina and determined that this was the best course of action for my knee."
The Chelsea player left Argentina's camp back in October due to a similar knee problem.
The 2022 World Cup winner has already surpassed the 1,000-minute mark this season after playing 16 games for Chelsea in 2025–2026. Additionally, during the October international break, he played 78 minutes for Argentina.
Fernández has participated in 51 club and national games overall in 2025. Fernández and his colleagues have little time to rest and recuperate between seasons due to Chelsea's 2025 Club World Cup championship run.

After opening the scoring in Saturday's 3-0 victory over Wolves at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea's Malo Gusto set his sights on another top-four Premier League finish.
After the Blues had frustrated home fans with a gloomy first forty-five minutes, the full-back, who had never scored in his professional career, showed up inside the box early in the second half to head in Alejandro Garnacho's cross.
