BUL FC FIGHT HARD, EXTEND UNBEATEN LEAGUE STREAK TO 25 GAMES

Bul FC drew 1-1 with NEC in the Uganda Premier League. Jerome Kirya's equaliser cancelled out Joseph Dhata's opener, moving Bul to 4th while NEC remains in the bottom half of the table.

Before Jerome Kirya responded for Bul in the first half added time, Joseph Dhata gave Nec a well-earned lead in the 27th minute.

With ten points from six games, the outcome moved Bul to fourth place in the standings, one of three clubs that have not lost this season, together with Vipers and URA.

However, after drawing for the third time in five games this season, Nec is still in the bottom part of the standings with six points.

Additionally, it was coach Badru Kaddu's debut game as Nec's head coach after he left Express to take Hussein Mbalangu's place on Thursday.

His team had a better start, which paid off in the 27th minute when Dhara scored the goal after Marvin Kavuma's header struck the post following a Mustafa Kizza free kick. Dhara was the first to react to a ball in his path.

Then, when Bul goalkeeper Tom Okara parried another attempt into his path from a similar distance, Dhata squandered a fantastic chance to double Nec's advantage. His initial goal only sent his rebound weakly at the goalkeeper.

Before the two teams went into halftime, Bul were given a lifeline when Nec goalkeeper Samson Kirya let a weak header from Kirya slip past him and tie the score.

With Kaddu making ineffectual substitutions, such as benching Dhata, and Geriga Atendere being substituted at right back after getting a knock in a physical altercation that referee Lucky Kasalirwe encouraged, the goal energised Bul, who went on the offensive and seemed the more likely team to score.

KCCA FIGHT BACK, BUT VIPERS CLAIM VICTORY IN STYLE

Vipers SC defeated rivals KCCA FC 1-0 at St. Mary's Stadium, handing the league leaders their first loss of the season. Allan Okello capitalised on a goalkeeping error for the decisive goal in a tight encounter.

In a much-anticipated match on Friday at St. Mary's Stadium in Kitende, Vipers SC defeated KCCA FC and earned all of the points.

The Venoms had a strong start and did, in fact, take a well-earned lead at halftime. In the end, they put up a strong defence to win all three points.

Vipers had already caused enough damage to condemn KCCA to their first loss of the season, even though they made progress in the second half.

The Vipers started Allan Okello and Yunus Sibira ahead of captain Milton Karisa and Gusto Mulongo, two changes from the squad that defeated Entebbe.

Conversely, KCCA FC made one substitution, starting Gavin Kizito Mugweri at right defender instead of Enock Walusimbi.

From the beginning, the home team controlled the game, with KCCA hardly making an effort. Vipers' tactical savvy paid off as they stifled the middle and prevented the KCCA FC wingers from running into space.

Joel Walusimbi, Saidi Mayanja, and Umar Lutalo were unable to keep up with Enock Ssebagala, Marvin Joseph Youngman, and Karim Watambala's dominance in the middle.

The Venoms made a wise move by assigning Rogers Torach to right back, as the hosts frequently switch to a back three when not in possession, joining Kevin Daslyva and Hillary Mukundane at the centre of defence.

In the tenth minute, Vipers had their first chance when Ssebagala found himself inside the area but missed his shot with the goal staring at him.

Arafat Usama was active on the right flank and made a number of inroads despite being up against his former employers for the first time.

Two minutes past the half, Okello scored after taking advantage of a mistake made by goalie Charles Lukwago.

After making the donkey work on the left wing, Yunus Sentamu laid the ball into the area, but Lukwago was unable to handle the weak attempt and instead let it fall into Okello's oncoming path.

Jackson Magera, the co-coach of KCCA FC, then demanded a change and substituted Ashiraf Mugume with Umar Lutalo, who was not playing well that day.

The second half was completely different from the first, with Vipers coming solely with new ideas and KCCA FC returning refreshed.

Although KCCA FC's on-field performance improved, they were unable to make the breakthrough because goalie Alfred Mudekereza was hardly used.

As a result, KCCA FC is still leading the table with 11 points, while Vipers have won their first two games and are now in tenth place with six points.

Vipers will play Maroons at home, and KCCA FC will play URA FC at home when they resume play following the international break.

CALVARY FC OUTCLASSED IN FIRST HOME FIXTURE

At home in Yumbe, Calvary FC lost their first Uganda Premier League match. On Friday, the recently promoted team lost to fellow newcomers Entebbe UPPC FC 4–2.

Calvary had not played at Midigo Primary School Playground, their home field, despite the fact that it was matchday six. Instead, they had gone to Maroons FC, Lugazi FC, Buhimba United Saints FC, and most recently, KCCA FC.

Despite the cagey first half, Entebbe UPPC had a field day, making the trip home depressing. Entebbe took the lead in the 37th minute thanks to a goal by Samuel Junior Kawawa.

There was a lot of rain at the beginning of the second half, but there were goals as well. Five minutes following the restart, Hassan Ssenyonjo extended the visitors' lead.

But two minutes later, Calvary managed to rally through John Rogers.

Muhammad Kyeyune and Ambrose Kigozi both gave Entebbe a goal before Lawrence Olaboro gave the home team another consolation goal from the penalty spot.

After five games without a victory, Calvary is still at the bottom of the standings with just one point, whereas Entebbe UPPC has moved up to fourth position with 10 points.
