GIANNI INFANTINO FACES PROBE OVER TRUMP ENDORSEMENT
FIFA President Gianni Infantino faces a potential ethics investigation after publicly endorsing US President Donald Trump. Experts say his remarks may violate FIFA's strict neutrality rules on politics, possibly breaching its Code of Ethics.

The ethics committee of the governing body may look into FIFA President Gianni Infantino's remarks endorsing US President Donald Trump.
"We should all support what he is doing because I think it is looking well," Infantino told the audience during his speech at the American Business Forum in Miami on Wednesday, November 5.
The statement above was the last in a laudatory defence of the incumbent White House leader, who has threatened to alter the cities that will host the World Cup. Infantino said the following in full:
"Although I am not an American, I believe that President Trump was duly elected in the United States of America. First and first, you should respect the election results when you are in a democracy as great as the United States of America, right? Based on his words and the agenda, he was ultimately elected. He is merely carrying out his promised actions. Therefore, I believe we should all support his efforts, as they appear to be going well.
FIFA President could be the subject of an investigation
Infantino's remarks may have violated a FIFA statute, Maduro told The Athletic. "FIFA maintains its neutrality in questions of religion and politics," he stated. There may be an exception for issues impacted by FIFA's statutory goals. The extent to which this duty should apply to political stances adopted by FIFA officials when acting in their private capacities may be up for discussion. That is obviously not the case with the statement in question, though. It was made during an event in which he obviously took part in his role as FIFA president. A FIFA president, in my opinion, might declare that election outcomes have to be honoured. Infantino, however, went beyond.
FIFA has not yet responded to the allegation, and The Athletic has stated that Infantino may be the subject of an inquiry by the ethics committee of his own organisation, but there is currently no proof that this will happen. A violation of Article 15 of the Code of Ethics could result in anything from a warning to a complete ban from all football-related activities.
JOHN PAUL II SERVES UP EXCITEMENT FOR UPCOMING PROVINCIALS

Due to the large number of multisport athletes, the boys' squad did not always have a full roster all season long. The team was greatly boosted when they won the gold medal in the final event during the regular season, and recently had their entire lineup back.
"[Seeing] it happen was crucial for the mental element of the game, but we could get back together as a whole roster and accomplish the goal of what we felt we could accomplish."
Before hosting regionals, the girls' squad will compete in their regional tournament in Kindersley on November 7–8. They took home three silver medals and won four competitions during the season.
Quinn Bayham, the girls' coach, has been pleased with the team's performance this season despite a few setbacks.
We wanted our girls to know how much we were impressed with them because we were so impressed ourselves. We are content with victories or losses as long as we are having fun and learning new things, regardless of the prize. We have achieved a lot of success, I believe. As long as we are satisfied with our performance, we do not mind losing, even if it is only in one game.
Bayham discussed how their Grade 12s assisted the Grade 10s on the girls' team, which featured a mix of younger and older players.
"The new players were incredibly well-educated by the captains, who maintained a good attitude and had a very valuable IQ that helped coach in the middle of the game as well," Bayham added. They are all eager to learn together now that they are together. I think that group mentality is really beneficial.
One of the main reasons the team has been so successful, according to Bayhem, is the competition between the starters and the bench during practice.
She remarked, "Iron sharpens iron."
The school will host the boys' provincial tournament next weekend, on November 21/22, and the girls' provincial tournament on November 14/15.

At the WTA Finals in Riyadh, world number one Aryna Sabalenka defeated defending champion Coco Gauff 7-6 (7-2) 6-2 in the Stefanie Graf Group third round robin match. Sabalenka arranged for Amanda Anisimova to face her in the semifinals.
After winning the first two games, Sabalenka needed to win at least one set to guarantee her place at the top of her group. To advance to the semifinals, Gauff needed to win the match.
In the first game, Gauff took an early break and held serve to take a 2-0 lead. In the fourth game, Sabalenka rallied to tie the score at 2-2. Gauff took a 3-2 lead in the fifth game after earning a second break. In the tenth game, Gauff had a 5-4 30-0 lead and looked certain to win the first set, but Sabalenka broke back for 5-5 after winning the next four points.
Gauff took a 3-1 lead in the tie-break after earning an early mini-break. On her second set point, Sabalenka pulled back on service for 3-4 and won four of the next five games to win the tie-break 7-5.
Sabalenka sprinted out to a 4-0 lead after earning two consecutive breaks. Gauff recovered one break in the sixth game, but in the eighth game, Sabalenka earned her third break before giving up her first match point 6-2.
To tell the truth, I was already working on the second set when something clicked and I broke. That game gave me a lot of confidence that I could still win this set. And yes, I am really glad I won," Sabalenka remarked.
In their first meeting since the Roland Garros final, Sabalenka defeated Gauff in three sets after the US player lost a first-set tie-break.
