LIVERPOOL FANS REJOICE AS ALEXANDER ISAK OFFERS BOOST AHEAD OF CITY CLASH

Sweden boss Graham Potter expects Alexander Isak to be available for Liverpool against Man City, but cautioned he's not fit for 90 minutes. The update gives Arne Slot a major boost and a selection headache.

Alexander Isak of Liverpool has been called up by Sweden's national team manager Graham Potter, who stated that he anticipates seeing the striker play this weekend against Manchester City.

With a difficult journey to the Etihad on Sunday, Liverpool has been without their club-record signing since he injured his adductor four games ago. This is an unexpected boost for the team. Arne Slot has been hesitant to reveal too much about Isak's health, but Potter has now provided some insight.

Isak is "available," according to the recently hired Sweden manager, ahead of the World Cup qualifying matches against Slovenia and Switzerland in November. He did acknowledge, though, that his top scorer was still not fully recovered. "This weekend, we will see. The English coach said on Fotbollskanalen, "Hopefully he can play against Manchester City and be with us in Málaga."

Potter cautioned, "But Alex is not ready to play 90 minutes in two games in four days." "However, he is available, and I am excited to meet him."

Slot stated earlier this week that Isak would "absolutely not" start versus City because he had not yet resumed team training in advance of Liverpool's Champions League triumph against Real Madrid in the middle of the week. The Reds manager may have a difficult time making decisions this weekend if Isak turns out to be available.

Isak's return means Liverpool is only missing three players, but Slot may still see it to be too many considering his worries about the team's depth following this summer's £420 million ($549.4 million) acquisition. Whether or whether Isak is in the running, Hugo Ekitiké has made a compelling case to start the entire season, but Slot's lineup may be influenced by Liverpool's opponents.

Last season, Slot put on some of his best tactical performances in both of his games against Manchester City. The Dutch manager failed to bring a recognised striker to any of his meetings with his self-described coaching hero, Pep Guardiola. Last February, a mobile false-nine combination of Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai caused a lot of trouble at the Etihad, scoring goals in a 3-0 victory.

Slot is still very unlikely to bench Isak and Ekitiké, but Szoboszlai will surely be a key player wherever he starts on Sunday.

MADRID MIDFIELDER FEDE VALVERDE TO HAVE GROIN INJURY EXAMINED ON THURSDAY

Real Madrid's Fede Valverde is set for tests on a groin injury suffered against Liverpool. The midfielder could be sidelined for weeks, a major blow ahead of a crucial run of five consecutive away games.

Fede Valverde, a midfielder for Real Madrid, is set to undergo tests to ascertain the severity of the groin injury he sustained during Tuesday's 1-0 loss to Liverpool. Although the team will release an injury report later today, Valverde had to leave the field and appears to have suffered an injury that could keep him out for several weeks.

Since Carvajal is also sidelined due to a knee injury, Trent Alexander-Arnold will be the clear favourite to start at right-back in his place. Real Madrid currently has no contenders for that position, although Alexander-Arnold recently returned and will probably be rusty.

With five straight away games against Rayo Vallecano, Elche, Olympiakos, Girona, and Athletic Bilbao, Los Blancos have a challenging schedule. Even while that opposition is doable, Real Madrid will have a difficult time winning all five away games, especially if Valverde is forced to miss them all.

ERIC GARCIA ADDS TO BARCA INJURY CONCERNS WITH NOSE FRACTURE

Barcelona's defensive crisis deepens as Eric Garcia is ruled out of the Celta Vigo clash with a broken nose. Hansi Flick may have only two fit centre-backs for the trip to Balaidos.

Eric Garcia will miss Sunday's La Liga match between Barcelona and Celta Vigo due to a fractured nose, meaning Hansi Flick will be without another player.

Garcia sustained the injury late in Barcelona's Champions League match against Club Brugge, which ended in a 3–3 draw. After the game, he claimed to have been brought to the hospital because he believed he had broken his nose.

According to reporter Xavi Hernandez Navarro, Flick will probably have to start Ronald Araujo and Pau Cubarsi as his central defenders because Eric will not be able to recover in time for Sunday's game.

Since Andreas Christensen missed the trip to Club Brugge, his fitness is once again in question; thus, it looks like the two players are Barca's only healthy centre halves.

Despite his recent physical problems, Cubarsi was a late substitute in Belgium, taking Eric's place in the closing seconds of the game.

After nine games without a clean sheet, Barcelona is somewhat clouded, and the defence is under intense scrutiny when they travel to Celta on Sunday.
