HANSI FLICK EXPRESSES FAITH IN MARCUS RASHFORD AS INJURIES PLAGUE STRIKER
Barcelona, plagued by attacking injuries, may start Marcus Rashford as a central striker against Olympiacos. Hansi Flick is set to deploy a new-look front three with Roony Bardghji and Lamine Yamal.

Ronald Araujo scored the game-winning goal in extra time to give Barcelona a 2-1 victory against Girona at home this weekend, kicking off the 2025–26 season.
Axel Witsel gave Girona an equalizer in the 20th minute after Pedri gave the Hots an early lead in the 13th. It was a competitive game overall, and Barcelona needed Araujo's heroics to get back to winning ways after losing badly to Sevilla 4-1 prior to the international break.
All things considered, Hansi Flick is having a lot of trouble arranging his starting eleven without Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres, and Raphinha attacking.
Barcelona has a lengthy list of injured players, but the attack injuries are particularly worrisome because they leave them without enough players to field a starting eleven against Olympiacos in the Champions League match that takes place midweek.
According to sources, Flick has experimented with a new front three that includes Roony Bardghji, Lamine Yamal, and Marcus Rashford.
With Rashford leading the lines as a legitimate striker, Bardghji is anticipated to replace academy graduate Toni Fernandez, who interestingly started against Girona.
The Manchester United loanee is expected to play a key role against Olympiacos, according to Flick. "Rashford can play as a No. 11 but is a good choice as a No. 9. When we signed him, we believed that he could play as a No. 9 or No. 11, and that having him on our squad would be fantastic. Prior to the Olympiacos match, Flick told reporters, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, "He is improved a lot in recent weeks, he provides us a lot of positives, and of course he can play as a No. 9."
Barcelona's offensive depth is seriously lacking.
Torres has contributed to six goals in ten La Liga games this season, so his absence has significantly reduced Barcelona's attacking power.
However, Rashford's form—the 27-year-old has contributed seven goals in 11 games this season in all competitions—must give Flick and the supporters a great deal of confidence.
In a similar vein, Bardghji, who was acquired from Copenhagen FC this summer primarily because of his potential, will also be put to the test.
The young player has pleased Flick, who is inclined to giving the 19-year-old a start against Olympiacos.
"Whether he begins on the bench or in the starting eleven, we can potentially think about deploying him as an attacking midfielder or striker. We are considering who will complete the game as well as who will start it.
The teenager has yet to score for Barcelona, and he will be hoping to open his account for his new team if he starts against Olympiacos.
DISCIPLINARY BLOW: MADRID PLAYER SUSPENDED POST EL CLáSICO TUSSLE
Real Madrid's backup keeper Andriy Lunin has been handed a one-game suspension by the RFEF for his aggressive conduct on the bench during the heated final moments of El Clásico. Real Madrid's appeal was rejected.

Los Blancos' goalie Andriy Lunin has been suspended for one game by the RFEF Disciplinary Committee for his involvement in the sideline dramas during the El Clásico's final moments. Although the cameras did not catch it, referee Soto Grado did record that he had sent the Ukrainian off.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the RFEF responded as follows when asked why Lunin received a red card.
The reason for Lunin, Andrii's expulsion in the 90th minute was that he had to be restrained by his teammates after he walked aggressively from his bench to the blonde bench.
The disciplinary committee of the RFEF
"When considered significant, those whose behaviour violates sporting order will be suspended for four to ten games or fined between 602 and 3,006 euros."
Because of Lunin's actions, which constituted a minor violation of the sporting order, he was suspended for one game. The ruling had been challenged by Real Madrid. However, the RFEF stayed steadfast, defending the referee's ruling and the evidence in the match report and on film.
Now, the backup goalie will not play against Valencia this weekend, where he is probably going to be benched. Fran Gonzalez and Sunico, both from the youth team, might be called up as the matchday squad's third choice, with Sergio Mestre serving as a backup.
No Barcelona players or any other Real Madrid players were slapped with bans following the two flash moments in the closing stages of the game. When Vinicius Jr. and Lamie Yamal argued, even players who were not on the team were spotted shoving on the side of the field. The RFEF, however, determined that nothing that came to pass would justify further prohibitions.

According to Bukayo Saka, it is feasible for Arsenal and England to win both games this season. The season has started well for the Gunners under Mikel Arteta's leadership.
Arsenal leads the Premier League standings by four points at the moment and is starting to look like a title contender. Manchester City is only one point ahead of defending champions Liverpool, who are seven points behind.
Saka, however, is not only interested in winning at his club; he also hopes to succeed internationally. Manager Thomas Tuchel has stated that winning the trophy is his ambition for England, who have qualified for the World Cup in the USA next year.
Saka is optimistic about his club's and his nation's chances of winning. "Yeah, that is my prayer," he remarked in an interview with Sky Sports. It is possible, of course.
