STRASBOURG SHOCK FADES AS PSG STAGE INCREDIBLE FIGHTBACK

At the Parc des Princes, Bradley Barcola gave the defending French and European champions PSG the lead early on, but Strasbourg rallied to take a 3-1 lead with two goals from Diego Moreira and Joaquin Panichelli.

Senny Mayulu then equalised for PSG after Goncalo Ramos converted a penalty, preventing them from suffering their second loss in eight domestic games this season.

Although Luis Enrique stated that he had no choice but to rest some important players who had just returned from international service, he acknowledged that "Strasbourg are without a doubt one of the top teams in Ligue 1, therefore we understood how difficult it was going to be."

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was one of the players that was only utilised in the second half, while Achraf Hakimi and Vitinha were unused substitutes.

After denying the Alsace team what would have been their first victory in 35 top-flight trips away to the Parisians, PSG maintained their lead in the league, one point ahead of Strasbourg.

Despite the outcome, Marseille and Lyon can now both surpass PSG and Strasbourg with victories on Saturday; Lyon will visit Nice, while OM will host Le Havre.

The Spanish coach went on, "Our goal is to be able to win every competition, but it will be very difficult."

"I think it was a good effort from those who participated, but we still need to get three or four vital players back."

Ousmane Dembele, the winner of the Ballon d'Or, is still recovering from a hamstring injury sustained while playing for France last month; thus, PSG is still without him.

A mostly second-string Paris team did welcome back Desire Doue after a month and a half out, but captain Marquinhos was still absent, as were midfielders Fabian Ruiz and Joao Neves.

Panichelli Double

Doue won the penalty that allowed Ramos to score the second goal for the home team that evening and set up Barcola's first goal.

In the sixth minute, Barcola and Doue traded passes before Doue charged into the area and scored his fourth goal of the year, giving PSG the lead.

In the 26th minute, Argentine striker Panichelli scored with a powerful header after Guela Doue, Desire's older brother, crossed from the right to put Strasbourg, who defeated the Parisians 2-1 at home in May of last year, back level.

Just before halftime, the visitors took the lead when Belgian Under-21 international Moreira finished past goalie Lucas Chevalier after Valentin Barco hoisted a pass over the top of the home defence.

Shortly after the restart, Moreira found Panichelli, who had already scored his seventh goal in only eight Ligue 1 games, to help make it 3-1.

However, PSG, which lost to Marseille last month, was awarded a penalty kick after goalie Mike Penders took down Doue, and Ramos scored the penalty with ease.

Mayulu's equaliser came 11 minutes from time after Lee Kang-in's shot went off the post. The 19-year-old's first attempt was stopped by Penders, but he headed in the follow-up.

The Champions League champions, who have already defeated Atalanta and Barcelona this season, will now focus on their European campaign and a trip to Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday.

In the meantime, Liam Rosenior's Strasbourg will play Poland's Jagiellonia Bialystok in the UEFA Conference League next week.

Englishman Rosenior stated, "I simply wanted us to walk off today and be proud of who we are, and we certainly did that."

"There is no denying that we were up against the world's greatest team. They are a credit to the league, in my opinion, and the game was also a credit to the league.

This weekend's other Ligue 1 action includes Monaco's trip to Angers on Saturday, the first time the principality team will be coached by new Belgian Sebastien Pocognoli.

DISCIPLINARY BLOW: MADRID PLAYER SUSPENDED POST EL CLáSICO TUSSLE

Los Blancos' goalie Andriy Lunin has been suspended for one game by the RFEF Disciplinary Committee for his involvement in the sideline dramas during the El Clásico's final moments. Although the cameras did not catch it, referee Soto Grado did record that he had sent the Ukrainian off.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the RFEF responded as follows when asked why Lunin received a red card.

The reason for Lunin, Andrii's expulsion in the 90th minute was that he had to be restrained by his teammates after he walked aggressively from his bench to the blonde bench.

The disciplinary committee of the RFEF

"When considered significant, those whose behaviour violates sporting order will be suspended for four to ten games or fined between 602 and 3,006 euros."

Because of Lunin's actions, which constituted a minor violation of the sporting order, he was suspended for one game. The ruling had been challenged by Real Madrid. However, the RFEF stayed steadfast, defending the referee's ruling and the evidence in the match report and on film.

Now, the backup goalie will not play against Valencia this weekend, where he is probably going to be benched. Fran Gonzalez and Sunico, both from the youth team, might be called up as the matchday squad's third choice, with Sergio Mestre serving as a backup.

No Barcelona players or any other Real Madrid players were slapped with bans following the two flash moments in the closing stages of the game. When Vinicius Jr. and Lamie Yamal argued, even players who were not on the team were spotted shoving on the side of the field. The RFEF, however, determined that nothing that came to pass would justify further prohibitions.

According to Bukayo Saka, it is feasible for Arsenal and England to win both games this season. The season has started well for the Gunners under Mikel Arteta's leadership.

Arsenal leads the Premier League standings by four points at the moment and is starting to look like a title contender. Manchester City is only one point ahead of defending champions Liverpool, who are seven points behind.

Saka, however, is not only interested in winning at his club; he also hopes to succeed internationally. Manager Thomas Tuchel has stated that winning the trophy is his ambition for England, who have qualified for the World Cup in the USA next year.

Saka is optimistic about his club's and his nation's chances of winning. "Yeah, that is my prayer," he remarked in an interview with Sky Sports. It is possible, of course.
