BAYERN READY TO RENEW SERGE GNABRY — ON REDUCED TERMS
Serge Gnabry's Bayern Munich future hinges on a pay cut. Despite a strong start with 8 goal contributions, the club will only offer the 30-year-old a new contract if he reduces his €18m annual salary.
Gnabry Faces Pay Cut Dilemma as Bayern Seek Contract Extension
In the absence of Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry of Bayern Munich is having somewhat of a comeback as an offensive midfielder after a few seasons of mediocre play at best. In ten competitive games during the 2025–26 season, the 30-year-old has amassed an outstanding three goals and five assists, and he is not slowing down.
Because of Gnabry's stellar start to the season and the fact that his contract expires in less than a year, there have been rumours of a possible contract extension. But according to the most recent claims from Florian Plettenberg, Sky's resident Bayern Munich analyst, Die Rekordmeister would only be open to giving Gnabry a contract extension in exchange for a pay cut (as reported by @iMiaSanMia).
In theory, Bayern might consider extending Serge Gnabry's contract. The German international is adored by Max Eberl. Gnabry is willing to remain at Bayern as well. With bonuses, he currently makes up to €18 million annually. There must be a wage reduction in order for a contract extension to occur. Gnabry will not receive the same compensation, for sure.
Along with fellow countryman Jamal Musiala, the former Hoffenheim player is presently Bayern's fourth-highest earner. Gnabry's willingness to accept a price cut seems doubtful, particularly if his stellar play lasts the entire season. Gnabry was content to remain with Bayern even when they wanted to sell him. A token of allegiance or a chance to experience the Dire Straits smash song "Money for Nothing"?
In any case, Gnabry will need to demonstrate his ability to remain reliable throughout the season if he hopes to receive an extension, even if it means a wage reduction.
The der Klassiker is at the forefront of Bayern Munich's first-half schedule, which is beginning to get pretty hard.
Although Bayern Munich defeated Eintracht Frankfurt before the most recent international break, they still have games against Bayer Leverkusen and SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga, Club Brugge, Paris Saint-Germain, and Arsenal in the Champions League, as well as FC Köln in the DFB-Pokal, scheduled before the end of November.

Lisandro Martinez has returned to first-team training for Manchester United, giving them a significant fitness boost ahead of their Premier League matchup against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Due to a serious knee injury sustained during a Premier League match against Crystal Palace, the Argentina international has not played for the 20-time English champions since early February.
However, Martinez has been speeding up his recuperation in recent weeks, and on Wednesday, the former Ajax centre-back was allowed to rejoin his teammates for training.
It is extremely doubtful that Martinez will play for Man United when they travel to Forest on Saturday, but the 27-year-old might return to the team for the match against Tottenham Hotspur on November 9.
Lisandro Martinez of Manchester United resumes training with the first team.
According to Man United head coach Ruben Amorim, "He’s feeling fine," last week. "I do not want to mention a single day or week because the knee is doing so wonderfully.
"I am not sure, but the team's training is about to begin. After that, Licha's rhythm will determine whether he places or not, but he is closer to starting training again.
The Red Devils will not be taking any chances with the Argentine because of the severity of the injury, and his return may be postponed until after the international break in November.
Luke Shaw's place in the starting lineup is now seriously threatened; therefore, Martinez's return is a significant boost for the 20-time English champions. Martinez is an expert in the left-sided role in the back three.
After joining Old Trafford from Ajax in the summer of 2022, the South American has made 91 appearances for the Red Devils, tallying three goals and three assists.
