Cole Palmer will be out for several more weeks as he recovers from a recurrent groin problem, Chelsea has revealed.

The England international played just 21 minutes before being pulled from Chelsea's 2-1 loss to Manchester United on September 20 after aggravating an ailment that had already kept him out earlier in the season.

Palmer will be "protected" by a period of rest, according to Blues manager Enzo Maresca, who had earlier stated that he would return soon after the international break.

Palmer's return date was eventually made public.

Over the past few weeks, a lot of Chelsea supporters have been worried about Palmer's fitness because it is unclear what has been keeping the Blues' talisman out for so long.

Palmer's circumstances have finally been clarified by Chelsea at a club meeting at Stamford Bridge.

Club insiders state that the 23-year-old will likely return in the middle of November, missing many important games.

He will miss Chelsea's October 18 trip to Nottingham Forest, their October 22 Champions League matchup with Ajax, their October 25 Premier League matchup with Sunderland, and their October 29 Carabao Cup fourth-round matchup at Wolves.

At first, Maresca had anticipated Palmer would just miss a few games against Benfica, Brighton, and Liverpool. However, it appears that the groin injury will take more time to heal.

However, the Italian manager affirmed that there will be no need for surgery.

During a press conference before the international break, Maresca stated, "I do not think he requires surgery; it is only about managing the pain in his groin."

Because there are so many games, it is a possibility, which is why we are attempting to be a little more cautious with him.

We acknowledged that we are a stronger team with Cole, but we also agreed that we must play games without him.

"We are going to figure something out. We definitely will not play with ten players! We will come up with an alternative.

This season, Palmer has made just four appearances and scored two goals, one each against Brentford and Bayern Munich.

Lisandro Martinez returns to first-team training, giving Manchester United a significant conditioning boost ahead of their Premier League matchup against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Lisandro Martinez has returned to first-team training for Manchester United, giving them a significant fitness boost ahead of their Premier League matchup against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Due to a serious knee injury sustained during a Premier League match against Crystal Palace, the Argentina international has not played for the 20-time English champions since early February.

However, Martinez has been speeding up his recuperation in recent weeks, and on Wednesday, the former Ajax centre-back was allowed to rejoin his teammates for training.

It is extremely doubtful that Martinez will play for Man United when they travel to Forest on Saturday, but the 27-year-old might return to the team for the match against Tottenham Hotspur on November 9.

Lisandro Martinez of Manchester United resumes training with the first team.

According to Man United head coach Ruben Amorim, "He’s feeling fine," last week. "I do not want to mention a single day or week because the knee is doing so wonderfully.

"I am not sure, but the team's training is about to begin. After that, Licha's rhythm will determine whether he places or not, but he is closer to starting training again.

The Red Devils will not be taking any chances with the Argentine because of the severity of the injury, and his return may be postponed until after the international break in November.

Luke Shaw's place in the starting lineup is now seriously threatened; therefore, Martinez's return is a significant boost for the 20-time English champions. Martinez is an expert in the left-sided role in the back three.

After joining Old Trafford from Ajax in the summer of 2022, the South American has made 91 appearances for the Red Devils, tallying three goals and three assists.
