Sergio Reguilon, a former Manchester United loanee, is set to return to football after three months as a free agent by joining Inter Miami, according to sources.
The Major League Soccer club is looking for a new left-back after Jordi Alba, Reguilon's Spain colleague, announced that this will be his final season.
The 28-year-old Reguilon has been without a club since leaving Tottenham Hotspur when his contract expired in June.
His five-year run with the North London club generated only 73 games, with loan spells at Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, and Brentford punctuating his stay.
The Athletic says that Inter Miami is "near" signing Reguilon. Nonetheless, the same source believes they will be unable to pitch him in competitive games until the following season due to the MLS's September roster freeze.
The Florida club is ready for a tough summer, with Sergio Busquets apparently set to retire. Uncertainty surrounds the long-term prospects of two other former Barcelona stars on their roster, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

Despite winning the Supporters' Shield the previous season, Inter Miami struggled in the postseason playoffs. Javier Mascherano, another former Barcelona great, took over as head coach before the 2025 season and has already secured a return to the playoffs with games remaining.
If Reguilon signs with the team before the year ends, he will be present as Messi and company attempt to win the MLS Cup. With 32 goals in all competitions this season, the Argentine legend leads Inter Miami's scoring rankings. His 24 goals in MLS are tied with Los Angeles FC's Denis Bouanga.
The World Cup victor has accepted his playing days are numbered, recently appearing clearly moved following what may have been his final competitive international performance on home soil. At the time, he said, "I have not decided for the [2026] World Cup."
"There will be six months remaining after the season ends, and I have pre-season. We will see how I feel, then.
In a 2019 Clásico in which Barcelona defeated Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, Reguilon played on the losing team and faced Messi, Suarez, Busquets, and Alba.
During his tenure at Atleti in the 2023–24 season, he came off the bench twice against the Catalan powerhouses and made two appearances while playing for Sevilla.
In his final season in North London, the full-back played in just six games for Spurs, two of which were in domestic cup competitions and four of which were in league play.
He was left out of the European team for last season's Europa League victory by Ange Postecoglou, but he was present at the Bilbao climax and was spotted conversing with Alejandro Garnacho, a former United teammate, on the San Mames field.

Lisandro Martinez has returned to first-team training for Manchester United, giving them a significant fitness boost ahead of their Premier League matchup against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Due to a serious knee injury sustained during a Premier League match against Crystal Palace, the Argentina international has not played for the 20-time English champions since early February.
However, Martinez has been speeding up his recuperation in recent weeks, and on Wednesday, the former Ajax centre-back was allowed to rejoin his teammates for training.
It is extremely doubtful that Martinez will play for Man United when they travel to Forest on Saturday, but the 27-year-old might return to the team for the match against Tottenham Hotspur on November 9.
Lisandro Martinez of Manchester United resumes training with the first team.
According to Man United head coach Ruben Amorim, "He’s feeling fine," last week. "I do not want to mention a single day or week because the knee is doing so wonderfully.
"I am not sure, but the team's training is about to begin. After that, Licha's rhythm will determine whether he places or not, but he is closer to starting training again.
The Red Devils will not be taking any chances with the Argentine because of the severity of the injury, and his return may be postponed until after the international break in November.
Luke Shaw's place in the starting lineup is now seriously threatened; therefore, Martinez's return is a significant boost for the 20-time English champions. Martinez is an expert in the left-sided role in the back three.
After joining Old Trafford from Ajax in the summer of 2022, the South American has made 91 appearances for the Red Devils, tallying three goals and three assists.
